We're currently living in the age of digital audio. Modulator is an incredibly powerful tool that is essential to any music producer.

But there are so many different Modulator plugins in the music production landscape, so we decided to create the ultimate list of the top Modulator plugins today that will help you find the perfect fit.

Things - Motor

Modulator by AudioThing

Images

Description

Morphing Rotor Effect

Motor is a plugin effect that uses side-chaining to combine signals in new and interesting ways: put in any two signals and they will dance around each other like courting birds drunk on fermented cherries. Use it to gentle morph between sounds or rhythmically cut them up, affecting both volume and spatial position. Add life to the plainest signals with vibrato, or destroy them in interesting ways with extreme modulation speeds.

Where Does it Come From?

Like AudioThing's previous collaboration with Hainbach (the Soviet spy recorder turned echo, Wires), Motors takes cues from history: “The Crystal Palace” built by Dave Young for the BBC Radiophonic workshop. This one-of-a-kind tool allowed speed-dependent switching of up to sixteen audio channels. It did so in an almost steampunk fashion, by employing a big capacitor rotating on a Motor. The effects it created reached from sublime to almost granular, a major achievement at the time. You can hear it on the soundtrack to the Doctor Who episode “The Krotons” by Brian Hodgson and Delia Derbyshire.

What is New?

Things Motor focuses and expands on this peculiar tool by allowing the combination of two signals via sidechain, which makes it work easily across platforms. Switching is controlled via a variable waveshape LFO instead of the fixed physical waveform of the original. This allows for smooth morphing or aggressively chopped sounds, and worlds in between. You can even use it for audio rate modulation of signals, which results in ring-modulation-like artefacts.

To make it a truly versatile tool, AudioThing added a vibrato and a panner synced to the “motor” LFO, as well as some of AudioThing's classic analogue-like sound shaping. Together with the variable time on the motor start/stop this becomes the sound morphing rotary effect you never know you needed – until you hear it.

The Past Melts into the Present

While the original Crystal Palace might not be heard in public again, with Things Motor you get a modern take on a classic tool.  Bringing avant-garde techniques of the past to a modern audience is one of Hainbach’s main interests on his channel, and AudioThing are happy to have partnered up with him on this.

Hainbach

Based out of Berlin, Germany, electronic music composer and performer Hainbach creates shifting audio landscapes THE WIRE called “One hell of a trip”. He has been fascinated with electronic sounds since he discovered the dial on the radio. Never losing his childhood wonder, he still searches for the sounds in between on modular synths, tape, and test equipment, making even the unmusical “music”. Through his YouTube channel, Hainbach brings experimental music techniques to a wider audience.

Ring Mod Snapin

Modulator by Kilohearts

Images

Description

Ring Mod: Multiply & Conquer

A ring modulator gets its name from the way the original analog schematic used a ring of diodes to multiply two signals together. Honestly the schematics is more of a square, but who cares when you can trash your sound beyond recognition in both pleasant and horrible ways?

The kHs Ring Mod uses either an internal sine/noise generator or a secondary input as the second signal in the modulation, and allows for versatile transformation of the modulating signal.

What's a Snapin?

This plugin is a "snapin". That means you can use it as a regular VST/AU plugin, or you can use it with our snapin hosts Multipass and Snap Heap where you can combine effects in amazing ways.

Modular Add-On: 4ms Pingable Envelope Generator (PEG)

Modulator by Softube

Images

Description

This product is an expansion for Softube Modular. If you do not currently own Modular, you can purchase it HERE.

A long-awaited addition to the Softube Modular platform, the 4ms Pingable Envelope Generator opens up a vast array of possibilities beyond the basic ADSR envelope generator included in the core Modular package. Two independent envelope generators can be 'pinged' by external sources - your DAW clock, for example - to define the cycle-length of the envelope(s) and generate rhythmic effects and interactions never before possible in Modular.

Fully licensed and endorsed by 4ms, manufacturers of the original hardware, the 4ms PEG expands your creative horizon. Create crazy polyrhythms for percussive clicks and beeps, or match the elastic wobble of a dubstep bassline to the tempo of your track with ease. Multiply the pinged tempo of each channel to fit two, three, four or more envelope cycles into each beat, or divide to generate longer cycles which still conform to your pinged tempo. And send the envelope generated by one side to CV modulate the parameters of the other. This module is fantastic for fun experimentation, and often results in happy accidents and creative inspiration.

What the 4ms PEG does

With tons of routing options and CV inputs, this module makes serious noise even if it's not intended to make a single sound of its own. Try it and see.

In Short

  • Two-channel pingable envelope generator
  • Use one side at a time to sync the rhythmic aspects of a sound to your track tempo
  • Use both sides to quickly concoct awesome generative rhythmic chaos
  • Detailed control of the shape of the envelope when generating drum sounds
  • Easily create some controllable motion in your textures
  • Adds hugely to the capabilities of your Softube Modular system
  • Requires Modular

Please Note:

  • Modular (cross-platform modular synthesizer) is required to run this software!

RingMod

Modulator by Stagecraft

Images

Description

Discover the Dirty Little Secret of Synth Enthusiasts

The RingMod (ring modulator) is a well-kept secret of synth enthusiasts and dark hip-hop or dub producers everywhere.

Even though it’s not very well understood and often overlooked, the RingMod has been used in the design of many synthesizers, particularly in the early modular synths (Moogs, Oberheims, etc). Notably, it was also used as the voice of the “Daleks” in the iconic British TV series Dr Who. More recently, ring modulators have been used to make distinctive dub-bass wobbles and some of the weirder noises you hear in Amon Tobin’s music, for instance.

The Most Versatile Ring Modulator

Stagecraft’s RingMod is a fully-featured ring modulation plugin. In addition to performing a synced ring mod transform, the plugin includes a built-in Flanger, Chorus, and Filter. All oscillators can be optionally synced to any common variant of the bpm (quarter note, triplets, etc). Unlike other ring mods, this plugin also allows 5 different types of waveforms and pulse width modulation for a broad array of possibilities.

Unlock an Astonishing Range of Possibilities through the Plugin’s Unique Syncing Features

No other RingMod plugin gives you such a wide variety of syncing options. For example, you can cause the ringing to immediately sync with the playhead as a straight, quarter note pulse, or as an offbeat triplet, or 64th notes. Taking into account that you can also sync the Flanger, Chorus, and Filter LFO, the options are astounding!

You can even choose to quantize the sync frequency to pitch, instead of bpm, giving you a variety of melodic ringing options. No other RingMod comes close to offering you that level of control.

Choose from a Variety of Transforms

This plugin is the only RingMod plugin out there giving you the option to use waveforms other than Sine for the Ringing Effect. This means you can alter the sound in more than just the typical “robot voice” way. Instead, experiment with a variety of syncing, precise, and unique transforms. You can even skew the waveforms through pulse width modulation to get even more variation.

Full Automation of all Parameters

RingMod gives you the ability to fully automate any of the plugin’s parameters (cutoff frequency, resonance, LFO frequency, LFO range, duty cycle warping, and wet/dry mix). This powerful feature unlocks the plugin’s full potential by allowing you to create more complex and expressive sounds than what’s possible with manual tweaking.

Save and Even Share Presets

Stagecraft’s RingMod allows you to save your presets and even share them with other SC RingMod users online.

Features

  • Syncing Ring Mod.
  • 5 Mod waveform types.
  • Flanger, Chorus, and Filter effects.
  • Full parameter automation.

MadMod

Modulator by Stagecraft

Images

Description

Control

MadMod takes modulation much further than your typical reactive filter, linking 6 different parameters to incoming audio, and each with its own custom scaling. This means you can cause the filter to fade in, skew higher, modulate more, flatten out, all at the same time and all scaled to incoming audio.

ADSR Versatility

Stagecraft has added a trigger mode which changes how the mods react to audio. Rather than tracking, in trigger mode the mods will kick in when the threshold is passed, but then go through a decay phase, and release only when the threshold is crossed again.

Display

As with all of our plugins, the displays we add are in-depth and powerful. Our design philosophy is that every knob should have a visible effect as well as audible, and that all graphs and images should be interactive.

Online Presets

Like all of Stagecraft's plugins, you can browse presets in the plugin that have just been created by Stagecraft and their users worldwide. New and interesting presets are added every week.

Phase Distortion Snapin

Modulator by Kilohearts

Images

Description

Phase Distortion is here to deliver phase melting mayhem!

Traditionally, most distortion units overdrive and shape the amplitude of a signal in various ways to generate a rougher sound. Phase Distortion instead lets the signal modulate the phase of itself, essentially resulting in something similar to feedback FM. This way you can add that FM touch to any sound, to get a sweet 80's vibe or a filthy dubstep bass.

Will you use your newfound power for good or for evil?

Drive

Controls the amount of distortion.

Normalize

Normalizes the signal, making the effect insensitive to input gain.

Tone

Filters the modulation to reduce high frequency noise.

Bias

Adds a constant phase offset to all harmonics.

Spread

Spreads phase offset for left and right channels for a stereo effect.

Mix

The dry/wet mix of this effect. A lower value will let some of the unmodified signal through.

Settings panel

Whenever you have your mouse cursor over a snapin theree is a small arrow at the top right corner (not visible in screenshot). It opens a settings panel where you handle presets.

It also has a "randomize" button that can be useful. I guess...

Enabled checkbox

The small checkbox to the left of the plugin name is a checkbox that bypasses the effect when disabled.

Resize handle

The bottom right corner of all Kilohearts plugins is a resize handle for scaling the UI to any size. This allows you to get a good view of the controls whatever the screen resolution, and also comes in handy if you need big controls, e.g. when using Phase Distortion as a real-time effect on a touchscreen monitor during a live set. (This is not available when the snapin is used inside a snapin host.)

Get more out of Phase Distortion!

Phase Distortion shines on it´s own, but it was primarily created to power up the different "Snapin Hosts" Kilohearts offer. These are bigger effects units that utilize all the available snapins and give you a really fun and creative workflow for combining them in any way you can think of. So have a look at Snap Heap and Multipass right now!

Mutable Instruments Clouds

Make It Rain

In the world of modular synthesis there are certain names that command veneration and respect; Moog, Buchla, Doepfer, Serge; but there are others that inspire the kind of fizzing delight and excitement that simply won’t leave you alone until you’ve filled your bedroom and half the hallway too.

Mutable Instruments have been making Eurorack modules in that latter category for almost a decade, and now Clouds — the texturizing module which sold like crazy in hardware and became a firm favourite of enthusiasts around the world — is available for Modular.

Clouds allows the user to divide incoming signals into audio droplets between 16ms and 1 second long; like using a tap to create a controlled drip from the audio stream; and manipulate those droplets in so many different ways you could easily pass a rainy weekend or two examining the capabilities of this module alone.

Scrub through the audio buffer. Change the sample size and texture. Create choppy rhythmic mayhem out of the smoothest input. Alternatively, mutate a snare drum into an ambient drone or soundscape by stacking droplets more and more densely until a reverb-like storm-system builds. Shift pitch, stretch time, feed back, until the tone you want shines through.

A digital module, Clouds hides hidden depths behind its every control, and learning its limits and possibilities is an adventure in itself. It’s great for mangling incoming drum loops into trippy, jerking breakouts. It can be used as a kind of one-shot sampler by freezing the buffer, allowing you to play with the same chunk of audio indefinitely. It can robotize an input signal, by using an external oscillator to quickly freeze and un-freeze the audio stream. It can be used like a wavetable by populating the buffer with multiple different tones. It can even simply add some grit and texture to a signal by generating a granular, irregular delay tail and blending it in parallel with the audio stream passing through. A kind of organic sonic friction.

If Modular synthesis is all about creating the broadest, deepest, densest, and most diverse palettes possible for sound design, then no system is complete without Clouds. Add it to your setup today, and make it rain.

In short

  • A granular texturizer, which processes an audio stream into manipulable droplets.
  • Control speed, size, texture and more of the flow of droplets.
  • Can be used simply as a reverb, or a delay.
  • Freeze function allows use as a simple one-shot sampler.
  • Four audio quality modes, including appealing lo-fi 8-bit options.
  • Stereo spread can send droplets firing left and right.
  • An awesome module to experiment with – find a use no one else has.
  • Requires Modular

Please Note:

  • Modular (cross-platform modular synthesizer) is required to run this software!

Modular Add-On: Doepfer A-188-1 BBD

Modulator by Softube

Images

Description

This product is an expansion for Softube Modular. If you do not currently own Modular, you can purchase it HERE.

Lead The Charge

It’s time to take control of time itself, with the Doepfer A-188-1 Bucket Brigade Device for Modular.

Produce and CV-control gritty, distorted delays, flanging effects, choruses and more with this unusual, proto-digital add-on module for Modular, our software Eurorack synth. A BBD uses a chain of capacitors to sample and delay your signal, with increasing loss of fidelity as the delay line gets longer. This can give rise to an enormous range of creative options, and add extra dimensions to any sound, from drums, guitars, and vocals to synth waves.

Before digital delays became the cheapest and most versatile option in the late 70s and early 80s, echo effects in recorded or live music were achieved by a variety of creative analog means. Short tape loops with adjustable playback heads, or variable speeds, were favoured for a while, despite the downside of needing to replace the tape now and again. Designs featuring magnetic drums or discs aimed to solve that issue, but never dominated the market.

Solid state designs enjoyed a brief but fruitful period of vogue in the mid-to-late seventies. These devices, featuring long chains of voltage sampling ‘buckets’ controlled and released in time by a high-speed oscillator, lent their unique characteristics not only to electronic, techno, and emergent dance styles but to guitar rigs the world over.

By passing the signal along a line of capacitors, the sound is delayed in time but also degraded with high-frequency loss and additional noise (as well as noticeable sample-rate reduction and aliasing at high delay times). This creates a warm and dirty sound, much sought after at the time, and still loved as a creative effect despite the practical disadvantages a BBD unit has compared to more versatile, cleaner digital delays.

Not only can this kind of delay produce tight slapbacks, grungey echoes, and smokey ambience, but by exploiting high feedback and very short delay times Karplus-Strong style plucked string synthesis is also possible.

The length of the delay line – the number of buckets in the brigade – has a significant effect on the sound and capabilities of the effect. The hardware module is available in six versions, each featuring a different number of stages (128, 256, 512, 1024, 2048, and 4096). But our software version contains all six and can switch between them with one click.

In a sense, it’s six modules in one, four of which, due to component scarcity, are limited editions in hardware (all but the 1024 and 2048-stage versions).

Another change, as compared to the hardware, is the option to simply switch off the audible bleed from the high-frequency clocking oscillator. What would have required careful filtering after the event is now a simple flip of a switch.

Use this module to design your own flanging, doubling, chorus, and depth effects by blending a modulated delay signal in parallel with the dry, unprocessed sound. Or take the wet output separately from the dry and work with them individually.

Features

  • Ultra-precise model of a rare and exciting style of analog delay effect.
  • Can be used within synth patches in Modular, or for processing external audio in Modular FX.
  • Six different models in one module.
  • Great for dirty delays, sharp slapbacks, whooshing swirly ambience, or utter craziness.
  • Build your own flanger/chorus for guitars, drums, or any other audio source.
  • Take advantage of the disadvantages of this special design – use the BBD as a bitcrusher or distortion unit.
  • Keep the original noise bleed, or simply switch it off.
  • Requires Modular

Modular Add-On: Mutable Instruments Rings

Modulator by Softube

Images

Description

This product is an expansion for Softube Modular. If you do not currently own Modular, you can purchase it HERE.

A Physical Modeling Phenomenon

Excite a material with some sort of energy input (a slap, a rub, a blow) and you’ll get a noise. The resonant qualities of that material (be it wood, metal, glass; a drum, a trumpet, a buttock), and the way in which you excite it, will determine the qualities of that sound; amongst other things, its timbre, frequency, and length in time. It is this thrilling world of excitation and resonance that concerns the Rings module, originally from Mutable Instruments, and now available in Softube Modular.

Rings uses tuned filters to physically model just about any resonant material imaginable, in three broad categories.

The ‘modal’ resonator emulates the resonant qualities of plates, strings, membranes, and tubes, which reinforce energy fed into them by organizing certain frequencies of sound around certain physical points (called modes) based on their size, shape, and structure.

The ‘sympathetic strings’ model offers the kinds of droning and over-toning sounds and textures offered by instruments such as the sitar. Virtual strings other than the one ‘plucked’ ring in sympathy with the main note.

The ‘modulated/inharmonic string’ model is an extension of Karplus-Strong synthesis, which uses a delay with very high feedback and very short period to synthesize a pitched wave like a string being struck, bowed, or plucked.

In addition to these fascinating and endlessly explorable varieties, Rings offers timbral control of the resulting sound, as well as the ability to excite the resonator models in any way you choose in the first place, either with an internally generated noise burst or with your own external audio signals.

You can even play strummed chords with Rings, due to a built-in polyphony mechanism which generates a new virtual string (up to 4 in total) for every trigger – even while the last note is still ringing.

The range of noises this module is capable of creating is simply staggering, and the joy of feeding different things into it never ends. Grab yours today, and run rings around the sounds you made yesterday!

Features

  • The only software version of Rings officially licensed and endorsed by Mutable Instruments
  • Three sophisticated resonator models in one module
  • ‘Modal’ synthesis imitates vibrating structures
  • 'Sympathetic strings’ offers harmonizing drones and overtones
  • ‘Modulated/inharmonic string’ model is based on extended Karplus-Strong techniques
  • Up to four voices of polyphony, allowing for strummed chords
  • Create everything from bells to whistles, and more
  • Use in-built noise pulse, or an external audio signal, to excite the resonators
  • Requires Modular

MRingModulatorMB

Modulator by MeldaProduction

Images

Description

MRingModulatorMB is a powerful multiband ring-modulation effect which uses two oscillators with our powerful adjustable shape feature. It can make your drum tracks and even other effects tracks sound in ways you would never have imagined possible.

Features

  • Dual user interface - the plugin is not only extremely versatile, but also quick and easy-to-use thanks to 2 graphical user interfaces. First there is a simple default one with several predefined modes, but just a few controls, which lets you start quickly and easily without any knowledge. All you need to do is choose what you want and use a few knobs. And the plugins also has an advanced mode, which provides all the extreme features the plugin offers.
  • 1-6 fully configurable independent bands built on 3 perfectly transparent crossover algorithms (analog, linear-phase and hybrid) with fully adjustable limits and input gains. Includes peak meters for all bands and the master.
  • Continuously adjustable oscillator shape - every oscillator in our plugins is defined by a mix of predefined oscillator shapes, custom waveforms edited using our MeldaProduction Envelope System (MES), step-sequencer and several methods for algorithmic postprocessing. It is the most advanced approach for defining oscillator shapes.
  • 4 global modulators - in each instance you can have up to 4 fully-featured modulators that can modulate any set of parameters including other modulators! In this way you can make the sound move in time, be less static and more interesting. Each modulator works as LFO, follower, midi/audio triggered ADSR envelopes, a pitch detector or even a combination.
  • Up to 8 channels surround processing - our plugins can handle not only mono and stereo signals, but also up to 8 channels of surround audio, making them ideal for audio production for movies, games etc.
  • Full randomization - using a single button you can generate completely new settings. By clicking the button you can walk through the billions of possible settings and find the best one for you! And if that's too much, you can just hold ctrl and MRingModulatorMB will only slightly modify existing settings.
  • Adjustable up-sampling 1x-16x to minimize aliasing and get an even clearer sound.
  • Extremely advanced and easy-to-use user interface - our products are always designed to enhance the workflow. You can easily change all values, fine-tune each control in multiple ways. Easy orientation in a standardized GUI, textual editing and smooth visualization with almost unlimited zooming are standard in all of our plugins. Moreover our plugins are the world first (and still the only ones), which support resizable and stylable GUI's.
  • Automatic synchronization to host tempo - every oscillator and modulator in the plugin can automatically synchronize to the host providing as natural a sound as possible while not offending other tracks.
  • MIDI controllers with MIDI learn - you can map any parameter to any MIDI controller or MIDI keyboard and control it realtime or record and automate it.
  • Very fast, optimized for SSE and SSE2 processors.
  • Global preset management and online preset exchange - using a title button you can save your settings (which are shared on the computer) so you can easily access these in other songs. Moreover all plugins can automatically share your presets and download presets of other users from our servers (if this feature is enabled). We are building a community and you can be a part of it!
  • Fully automatable.
  • Two oscillators which can also modulate each other to generate even more complicated shapes.
  • Adjustable phase difference useful to perform stereo-expansion.

Modular Add-On: Mutable Instruments Braids

Modulator by Softube

Images

Description

This product is an expansion for Softube Modular. If you do not currently own Modular, you can purchase it HERE.

Astonishingly Sophisticated Sound-Generation

Braids, by French Eurorack pioneers Mutable Instruments, is not an oscillator.

It sort of looks like one, with fine and coarse pitch/frequency controls, a v/oct input, and voltage-controllable tone/timbre controls.

It even sort of sounds like one, in as far as it outputs audio.

Mutable Instruments call it a macro oscillator, but even that is an understatement. It’s a hugely sophisticated digital synthesis engine, able to produce and manipulate complex sounds – classic waves from vintage synths, bells, resonant filters, plucked and bowed strings, vocals and vowel/formant sounds, wind instruments, percussion, noise, granular clouds and more – by means of 45 or so fully-realized algorithms, featuring multiple oscillators, wavetables, filters, VCAs, ring modulators, and so on under the hood.

Each mode is a different algorithm and produces a different variety of sounds as you turn the two tone controls, Timbre and Colour. These controls are pre-programmed to do different things per algorithm, often adjusting multiple parameters in the set-up at once to tour the sweet spots. And of course, they can be CV controlled.

Using the trigger input and built-in AD envelope, each algorithm can even become a self-contained synth voice. No other modules required. But bring other modules in and you can make pretty much any instrument you could imagine.

In a sense, Braids can be looked at as both an encyclopedia of classic synthesis techniques and a tool to bring them into the present-day, with tremendous sound-quality and ease-of-use to match.

It is also shockingly, spectacularly rich, varied, and complicated, with each mode being an instrument unto itself.

Features

  • Macro oscillator featuring 40+ fully-realized digital synthesis algorithms
  • Produce millions of different sounds easily – classic waves and telecoms babble, bells and whistles, percussion and ambience
  • Just two controls morph through the sweet spots of each algorithm
  • Great for triggered percussion
  • Awesome for crazy complex waveform synthesis
  • Phenomenal for glitchy out-of-control modulated sounds
  • Incredibly deep, but easy to use
  • It’s like a library of the greatest synth sounds of all time
  • Requires Modular

Modular Add-On: 4ms Spectral Multiband Resonator (SMR)

Modulator by Softube

Images

Description

This product is an expansion for Softube Modular. If you do not currently own Modular, you can purchase it HERE.

4ms SMR for Modular can process audio like a classic filter bank, ring like a marimba when plucked/struck, vocode, re-mix tracks, harmonize, output spectral data, quantize other oscillators to scales and much more. It’s deep, versatile and infinitely expands what is possible to achieve with Modular.

The 4ms SMR consists of six channels of resonant bandpass filters, all individually locked to a twenty notes scale displayed in the centre of the unit via the LED ring. All six filters can easily be swept around their present note scale manually or via CV. The note scales cover everything from Western scales, alternative tunings to more esoteric Gamelan and microtonal scales.

What Does This Mean?

This means endless fun! You can use SMR as an oscillator bank for additive synthesis, create beautiful moving chord structures, you can use it as a vocoder, phaser, a quantizer, a stereo-widener thingy, a CV source/arpeggiator/sequencer, a remix tool for extracting triggers from recorded material, a drum synthesizer—by pulse triggering odd and even for different rhythms—a basis for multiband compressor patches and just a crazy ass effect. Daunting? The 4ms SMR comes with 75 brand new presets which covers these use cases. Great starting points for further patch-o-rama! Oh, and its CPU usage is comparatively low, so you can add a large number of SMR units to your patches.

Where Do I Even Begin?

The 4ms SMR can seem a bit daunting at first. That's why it comes with no less than 75 brand new presets which covers the use cases above. Great starting points for further patch-o-rama! Oh, and its CPU usage is comparatively low, so you can add a large number of SMR units to your patches.

Softube’s 4ms Spectral Multiband Resonator plug-in is officially endorsed by 4ms. It faithfully emulates both the hardware and firmware of the original unit, with some minor alterations and improvements.

In Short

  • Innovative multiband resonant filter
  • Wide range of uses
  • Includes 75 new presets
  • Officially licensed from 4ms
  • Low CPU usage
  • Requires Modular

QuatroMod

Modulator by Audio Damage

Images

Description

Take our classic Liquid through-zero flanger, Fluid multi-mod chorus, Vapor diffusion chorus, and FreqShift frequency shifter (from our Eurorack hardware line) and put them all in one plug-in, and you have a true powerhouse of stereo-insert modulation.

Features

  • Flanger: The through-zero flanger mode is our Liquid plugin in all its glory, with Haas Effect "Offset" control and invertible feedback for extra widening.
  • Chorus: The chorus mode, based on our original chorus product, Fluid, later extended in to the Dimensions module for Eurorack, has six delay lines modded at different rates for one of the thickest stereo choruses available. The DIM-D mode does what you'd expect, changing the topology to match that venerated box, but with all the control of a modern chorus.
  • Diffusor: Our Vapor plugin, recreated here as the Diffusor mode, is essentially the diffusion block from a reverb, rewired to act as a chorus. The secret snare weapon of many a producer, this mode is a unique effect that will reward experimentation.
  • Freqshift: One of our most popular Eurorack-format hardware modules, here thoroughly reworked for the DAW context. Once you use this mode in a slight upwards shift on pads, and you'll never use anything else.
  • Available for nearly all modern plugin formats, QuatroMod is a convenient one-stop shop for all your modulation needs. With a vector-based resizable user interface, Retina- and 4K-capable scaling, and a platform-agnostic preset mechanism, QuatroMod will quickly become your go-to mod plugin.

Godfazer

Modulator by D16 Group

Images

Description

Don’t be deceived by the SilverLine format and affordability – big things sometimes come in small packages. Godfazer is an Advanced Modulation Unit that combines multiple modulations and filter types into a single, versatile plugin effect, with a spectacular choice of routing topologies.

The Swiss Army Knife of Modulation Effects

The most powerful modulation effect D16 group has ever created, Godfazer is your new go-to plugin for chorus, phasing, filtering, rotary speaker emulation and much more. Built with creative sound design at the top of the agenda, Godfazer spatially and spectrally transforms signals of all kinds with its versatile Ensemble module and two dual-modulated Multi Filters.

Vintage Devices and More

Godfazer’s Ensemble section offers a wide range of delay- and amplitude-modulating vintage device emulations, including BBD-based choruses, Solina-style ensembles and rotary speakers, as well as a variety of original tremolos, auto-panners and other models. But that’s only the beginning! Alongside the Ensemble, two identical Multi Filters each feature 40 spectacularly diverse filter types, from dual shelving EQs, low/high/band-pass models and formant filters, to an extensive selection of vintage and modern phasers.

Powerful Modulation

Bringing movement and dynamism to the Multi Filters, Godfazer’s dual Modulators each enable one of four styles of cutoff/center frequency modulation to be brought into play. Apply static offset to the left and right channels with the Constant Modulator; get things wobbling with the tempo sync-able, pannable, phase-adjustable LFO; generate a modulation signal based on input amplitude with the envelope Follower, and handcraft your own synced or free-running cyclical progressions with the 16-step Step sequencer.

Freedom of Routing

Both Modulators are routed independently to each Multi Filter, for truly complex signal blending, and the polarity of every input can be inverted at a click. The Multi Filters themselves are configurable for parallel or serial signal flow using six topology options, which also determine the position of the Ensemble within the chain.

... Of course, Godfazer also includes all the standard features of the SilverLine plugin series, including 64-bit internal processing, three quality options for real-time playback and offline rendering, a resizable GUI, and a tagged preset browser. From enhancing beats, thickening basslines and glamorizing vocals, to animating pads and bringing life to keys and FX, no modulation-based task is beyond its sonic remit.

Orbitron

Modulator by United Plugins

Description

The Revolution in Modulation

Simple modulation can be boring and tedious. But imagine you could fluently crossfade between four various modulation effects so that each bar would sound different or blend the four effects together to create something unique. That is the approach only Orbitron can offer.

Features

  • Orbitron is a multi-FX modulation plugin. It can be used to breathe life onto your instruments with subtle organic variations, fatten up your synth sounds with rich evolving unisons or create out of this world rhythmical spinning resonances for complete creative chaos. Say goodbye to boring and lifeless sounds and inject some movement into your music.

  • Advanced FX Morphing

  • The main circle in the centre of the plugin morphs between the 4 FX sections. It can be modulated in sync with your DAW for musical timing, set to random for subtle variations and organic movements or in manual mode that lets you blend between the 4 sections to find the perfect sweet spot.

  • Circular Feedback

  • There is a unique circular feedback network that feeds the signal from each FX section into the next and then back round again and again. This cool effect can be used with just one simple knob. There is also a size knob to adjust the delays of the feedback loops. This effect can add anything from short metallic resonances to lush evolving reverb.

  • 12 Multi-Modes

  • Each of the 4 FX sections can be set to one of 12 modes, including choruses, flangers, phaser, special filters and more. You can use 4 completely different modes and blend between them to create a hybrid, or use 4 of the same and create subtle differences in each section to make super-rich modulations.

  • Need to Go Simpler?

  • Orbitron at its heart blends and modulates between 4 FX at once, however, you can always take the step back to simple modulation. Each section sounds perfect on its own and sometimes this will be exactly what you need. For this, there is a solo switch in each section, that disables the other 3 sections. This will also be much more CPU efficient than using 4 processors at once.

  • Tons of Presets

  • Orbitron comes with a huge number of presets made by top producers and sound designers. They're grouped conveniently into categories, such as, "Solo" for presets that only use 1 FX section, "Multi" that uses 4 different FXs of similar type and "Hybrid" that creatively fuse very different FX.

  • Smart Randomization

  • Simple modulation can be boring and tedious. But imagine you could fluently crossfade between four various modulation effects so that each bar would sound different. Or blend the four effects together to create something unique. That is the approach only Orbitron can offer.

  • Hassle-free Software Protection

  • No iLok, no dongle nor internet access is required for activation. United Plugin'ssoftware uses licence files to activate your software. You can freely use the purchased software on all your computers as long as you are the user.

  • 64-bit Audio Quality at ANY Sampling Rate

  • The plugin provides the maximum audio quality you can get. It uses internal 64-bit audio processing and can handle any sampling rate. 192 kHz or even higher.

  • 15-Days Unlimited Trial Version for FREE

  • All the descriptions are nothing comparing to putting hands on the plugin yourself. No saving limits. No noises. No boundaries. Engage the plugin in your project for real and fully exploit its powers for two weeks.

  • Smart Bypass

  • The intelligent way this plugin manages bypassing ensures that you don't get any click or harmful noises when automating the parameter. It also compensates for latency ensuring that the bypass states are perfectly in sync with each other.

  • Intelligent Sleep on Silence

  • This plugin intelligently detects whether it makes sense to perform processing at all. And if not, it temporarily turns on sleep mode. In such a state, it requires virtually no CPU at all saves the computing sources for other processes.

MMorph

Modulator by MeldaProduction

Description

MMorph lets you morph between 2 audio materials, leading to inexhaustible creative potential. It sounds unbelievable, is extremely versatile and insanely fast. MMorph is an indispensable tool for composers, producers and DJs, who really want to be creative.

Powerful Spectral Processing, just One Knob...

Unlike simple cross-fading, which is just like having 2 faders one going down and the other going up, MMorph analyzes both input signals, one sent via the main input and the other via side-chain, analyzes both and finds important features and morphs them instead. Much like morphing photos of one person into another. It can be used to combine voices to any tonal instrument, produce robotic voices, morph between 2 different songs etc. And all of that complex mathematics is available using just one big knob! But of course, if you want to be more creative, see below...

Versatile for just about any Sound Material

You might ask what features it could find when morphing between sub-bass and vocal. Well, originally these don't have much in common, yet it still works. How? MMorph has a huge set of features such as spectral compression, harmonic generation etc., which, besides their creative potential, can sort of make these materials a little more alike, enough to produce lots of original and interesting results.

Modulation Heaven

If that just isn't enough for you, the never-ending potential of MeldaProduction's modulators will be at your disposal. Modulate any parameter from sources such as an LFO, audio level follower, envelope generator, randomise, or pitch detector. Your sound will never be static again.

Windows

  • Windows Vista / 7 / 8 / 10 (32-bit or 64-bit)
  • VST / VST3 / AAX compatible host
  • Intel/AMD processor with SSE2 support

Important Notes:

  • Always use 32-bit plugins in 32-bit hosts or 64-bit plugins in 64-bit hosts!
  • 64-bit plugins can't work in 32-bit hosts even if the operating system is 64-bit. Do NOT use 32-bit plugins in 64-bit hosts. They would have to be bridged and can become slow and unstable.

Mac

  • Mac OS X 10.9 and newer (64-bit only)
  • VST / VST3 / AU / AAX compatible host
  • Intel/AMD processor with SSE2 support or M1 Apple Silicon processor
