Orbit
Transient Shaper by SoundSpot

Description
![]()
Transients are the life force of modern music, and sometimes when your instruments just won’t pop in the mix after EQ and compression, then it’s time to reach for a transient designer.
The Orbit is a simple & lightweight tool that will help boost your transients and add bite to your mixes, and whilst the interface may be basic, don’t let that fool you, under the hood you’ll find the same DSP used in our Velo limiter, making the Orbit, a powerful little tool to add to your plugin arsenal.
Boost
![]()
The boost parameter will increase the intensity of the effect and can deliver very subtle boosts, to extreme overdrive. A word of caution… Always check your levels before diving the boost too hard, your ears, monitors and neighbours will thank you for it.
Transient Modes
![]()
Orbit uses a combination of logarithmic style envelope followers, allowing you to boost the transients of percussive instruments like beats, drums and percussion as well as rhythmical guitar and synth parts.
The mode feature lets you adjust Orbit's algorithm to target slow, medium or fast transients. This usually means you want to use the slow (left) setting for low-frequency material like kick-drums and low synths, the medium(middle) setting for mid-frequency material like snare-drums and guitars, and the fast (right) setting for high frequency material like hi-hats, rim clicks and claps.
Mix
![]()
The mix parameter allows you to use the Orbit much the same as you would use parallel compression. This is very useful when you want the sound of an extreme boost without the huge additional gain. Using the mix this way allows you to add character to the original signal.
Bypass
![]()
Often times, bypassing a plugin directly in your DAW will create popping artefacts. The internal bypass parameter in the Orbit has been smoothed for pop-free bypassing. This is particularly useful when automating the plugin off & on through a mix.

Description

Helper Transients 2 is also available in the Helper Series 2 Bundle.
Being able to control the shape of the sounds is extremely useful for musicians when they are mixing their music. But Helper Transients 2 is much more than an ordinary transient shaper plug-in because it can process 5 different kinds of audio signal from the audio source itself.

This means that the user can set it to affect only the original audio source, the mid, the side, the left or the right of the audio source. This brings up a new realm of possibilities.
While compression is more commonly used to control dynamics of sounds, but sometimes it is just not the right tool for the job. Transient shaping has become an important aspect of mixing audio as you can sharpen or soften the audio signal without over-compressing the audio signal. You can use to shape drums so that they can cut through the mix without compromising the dynamics of the audio.
With its both low pass and high pass filter modules, you’ll be able to cut off unwanted frequencies from the saturated audio signal. The possibilities are endless as you use the filter modules for creative purposes such as crafting new unique sounds. With the input and output gain control, proper gain staging can be done before and after the saturation process.

Take Shape
Transient shaping is the key to getting your audio upfront and punchy. Whether it’s adding extra power to your kicks, or taming the tails of your synth lines, a decent transient shaping plugin should be an essential part of your music making arsenal. At WA Production, they don’t just do decent… they only do extraordinary!
![]()
‘Imprint’ is an innovative multiband transient designer featuring real-time display, 3 frequency bands, adjustable crossover points and advanced parameters. Running in all major plugin formats for Mac and PC, Imprint will add upfront definition to any audio with a range of useful presets and intuitive user controls.
3 Band Transient Shaping
The flexible three-band workflow boosts transients that occur in different frequency ranges. The multiband graphic interface makes it easy to set the crossover points and gain of each band. The mix controls of each band boost the transient content in the selected frequency range (plus useful bypass controls).
Power
The Imprint logo acts as a bypass control for the whole plugin, and is smoothed to be click and pop free for unhindered A/B testing.
Advanced Controls : WIDTH / SMOOTH / ATTACK / RELEASE
Every band has an advanced panel that can be accessed through the triangular shaped control below the mix controls. The advanced parameters include peak width, smooth, attack and release controls so that you can tweak the behaviour of the transient boosting effect. The width control allows you to set the width of the peaks you want to target. The smooth control lets you smooth out those peaks for a more subtle effect. In addition, the attack control dampens the transients and the release allows you stretch the generated gain boost over time for a more extreme effect. Combined, these four features give you precise control over the generated gain boosts.

Transient Shaper Snapin
Transient Shaper by Kilohearts
Images
Description
Transient Shaper: Customize attack character
When you want to carefully tweak the punch of your snare, the ricki-ticki-ticking of your hi-hats or the snappiness of a synth line, Transient Shaper is the right tool for the job.
Using a compressor is the most common way of adjusting the dynamics of a sound, but it's not always the right tool for the job. Transient Shaper offers an alternative take on processing the dynamics of a sound, working on the rate of change of the signal level rather than the signal level itself. This not only makes it able to react very fast to input sound, but also makes it consistent regardless of input gain. The result is a very direct control over the character of both the attack and sustaining sections of the sound in a way that's simple to understand and tweak.
Attack: The amount of amplification or attenuation of the transient.
Pump: The amount of attenuation directly after the transient, emphasizing the transient without increasing the level.
Sustain: The amount of amplification or attenuation of the sustained sound.
Speed: Higher values results in snappier transient modification, and lower values result in smoother curves.
Clip: When enabled, the output signal is clipped to 0dB.
Sidechain: When enabled transients are detected based on a secondary input, but the effect is applied to the main input.
Settings panel: Whenever you have your mouse cursor over a snapin theree is a small arrow at the top right corner (not visible in screenshot). It opens a settings panel where you handle presets.
It also has a "randomize" button that can be useful.
Enabled checkbox: The small checkbox to the left of the plugin name is a checkbox that bypasses the effect when disabled.
Resize handle: The bottom right corner of all Kilohearts plugins is a resize handle for scaling the UI to any size. This allows you to get a good view of the controls whatever the screen resolution, and also comes in handy if you need big controls, e.g. when using Transient Shaper as a real-time effect on a touchscreen monitor during a live set. (This is not available when the snapin is used inside a snapin host.)

Transient Shaper shines on it's own, but it was primarily created to power up the different "Snapin Hosts" Kilohearts offer. These are bigger effects units that utilize all the available snapins and give you a really fun and creative workflow for combining them in any way you can think of.

TS-1 Transient Shaper
Transient Shaper by Audiority
Images
Description
Multimode Frequency Dependant Transient Shaper
TS-1 is a multimode frequency dependent transient shaper designed to manage the attack and sustain of an incoming audio signal. Thanks to our “Compression by Saturation” concept, TS-1 works great to add warmth and punch to your drum tracks without losing dynamics.
TS-1 features two separate detection circuits for Attack and Sustain, whose signals can be filtered to improve the detection (SC filtering) or to color the processed audio. A soft clipping circuit will gently saturate and “compress” your signal, in a similar way to a tape saturation
Starting with version 1.1, TS-1 now features two distinct modes named Type A and Type B. While Type A retains the original TS-1 algorithm, Type B is a brand new one featuring inverse envelope curves on negative gain values.

Impact
Transient Shaper by Surreal Machines
Images
Description
![]()
The most versatile tool for reshaping the dynamics of drums, loops, and much more.
Impact is designed to help with the more nitty-gritty, detail-oriented aims of transient shaping.
The multi-channel processor is switchable between one, two or three bands of transient modification - this means that different frequency bands can be adjusted independently so that if you wanted to emphasize the attack of some airy hi-hats while, in the same sample, dulling the attack of a low-rumbling kick drum, you could do simply by adjusting the Attack and Sustain controls for each frequency band.
As part of its dynamic processing chain, Impact also includes four switchable styles of analogue-modelled saturation, along with a final processing section that includes a clipper, limiter and a maximizer designed specifically to work with transient materials.
This ensures that you are not only able to shape your transients exactly how you want, but you can also add some additional character to your sounds in the process.

TransReckon provides 'Length' and 'Sensivity' controls, a 'Listen' mode, a 'Flat Sustain' option and an integrated brickwall limiter.
These options help to go further with the transient shaping process.
They can be used to reduce artefacts when processing specific instruments (guitars, ...) but they also offer new creative possibilities (gate and "pre-delay" effects on a natural reverb).
While it is possible to process transients with classic dynamics effects, these rely on a defined threshold which is set manually depending on the incoming signal.
If the input level is modified later or if your drummer does not hit his drums at a constant velocity (which is usually a good idea, musically speaking), the transients processing can be more complex to achieve.
A transient processor like TransReckon does not depend on the level of the incoming signal.
In short...
- Add punch to your drums and percussive instruments.
- Add life to your mixes.
- Isolate the prominent elements of an existing loop.
- Give more presence to an acoustic guitar or tame the peaks produced by an enthusiastic rhythm guitarist.
- Add a gate effect to a natural reverb and/or simulate a pre-delay effect on it.
- Tweak the envelope of an electronic drum sound.
- ... Be creative!
Features
- Flexible but yet very easy-to-use transient processor.
- Listen’ mode
- 'Sens’ and ‘Length’ parameters give a comprehensible control over the detection circuit(s).
- Integrated brickwall limiter (0dB).

Features
The Most Advanced User Interface on the Market - Stylable, Resizable, GPU Accelerated
- Modern user interfaces must not only be easy and quick to use, but also versatile and the whole visual appearance should inspire you. MTransient features the most advanced GUI engine on the market. It is still the first and only GUI engine, which is freely resizable and stylable. It also lets you choose between knobs, sliders or buttons, whichever you like the most.
- The plugin can look as an ancient vintage gear, if you are working on old-school rock music. Or as super-modern futuristic device if you are working on modern electronic music.
- If your display doesn't have a high resolution, you can make the plugin smaller. If the fonts are too small, you can make the plugin bigger and save your eyes.
- All the graphics is accelerated using your GPU, graphical interface, providing ultimately quick response and keep your CPU focused on the audio.
Dual User Interface, Easy Screen for Beginners, Edit Screen for Professionals
- MTransient provides an arsenal of features you probably didn't think it was possible. But even as a beginner you can use it thanks to the dual graphical user interface.
- First there is an Easy screen with several predefined modes, but just a few controls. This lets you start quickly and easily without any knowledge. All you need to do is choose what you want and use a few knobs.
- Then there is an Edit screen for those of you, who are not afraid of all the amazing features the plugin has under the hood.
Unique Visualisation Engine with Classic Meters and Time Graphs
- Your ears should always be the main judge, but a smart metering system can often be a huge help. MTransient provides the most advanced metering system out there. The plugin can display the measurements of all relevant values using classic meters, or it can even show them in time using the time graphs. Everything is customisable as usual.
Multiparameters
- MTransient lets you control multiple parameters using a single so-called multiparameter. This may not only come handy for automation for example, but the multiparameters are very smart units and you can use them to smartly morph between banks of settings for example. All in the name of creativity!
Tube Saturation
- MTransient provides an integrated tube saturation simulator, which can get your audio the great vintage analog feel and high-end sparkle.
M/S, Single Channel, Up to 8 Channels Surround Processing...
- MTransient can handle not only mono and stereo signals, but also mid/side encoding for stereo field processing, separate left & right channels, separate mid or side signal and up to 8 channels of surround audio. It is perfect for audio production for music, movies, games...
Automatic Gain Compensation (AGC)
- Most plugins change loudness of the output audio, which makes browsing presets inconvenient, not mentioning randomisation. MTransient includes automatic gain compensation, which quickly adapts to current settings and ensures the output sounds as loud as the input. This even protects you from thinking that something sounds better in cases it is just louder.
Safety Limiter
- Some plugins can intensely increase gain when exposed to specific audio materials. MTransient provides a safety brick wall limiter, which ensures the output stays below 0dB and prevents your equipment and your ears from potential danger automatically.
Adjustable Up-Sampling 1x-16x
- Digital audio provides very superior audio quality compared to ancient analog gear, but there are problems too. The main problem is the aliasing, which may be noticeable, when using nonlinear processes such as compression or saturation. MTransient includes both minimum-phase and high-quality linear-phase upsampling algorithms, which avoids the aliasing.
MIDI Controllers with MIDI Learn
- MTransient contains a powerful MIDI processor, which listen to MIDI controllers and MIDI keyboard and control any parameters realtime.
64-bit Processing and an Unlimited Sampling Rate
- MTransient provides the maximum audio quality you can get. It uses 64-bit audio processing and can handle any sampling rate. It does not make much sense to go over 192kHz, but if you think it is a good idea, the plugin can do that.
Extremely Fast, Optimised for Newest AVX Capable Processors
- Computers are now extremely fast, but the algorithms are more complex and projects bigger, so we still need to use the processing power with care. MTransient uses the fastest algorithms, takes advantage of the newest processor capabilities, lets your GPU handle the graphics, and shares the resources with other MeldaProduction plugins. The plugin is among the fastest on the market, yet it provides the best possible audio quality.
Global Preset Management and Online Preset Exchange
- MTransient presets are carefully stored in a system database and you can quickly access them from any project in any host. The plugin can automatically share your presets and download presets of other users from our servers. We are building a community and you can be a part of it!
Supports VST, VST3, AU and AAX Interfaces on Windows & Mac, both 32-bit and 64-bit
- MTransient supports all major hosts on both platforms. Check system requirements for information about compatibility and installation.
No Dongle nor Internet Access is Required for Activation
- How many times did you forget your USB dongle? We are an honest company and expect the same from our customers. Our software uses licence files to activate your software. And the licences are to-person, so you can use it on all your computers as long as you are the user.
Free-for-Life Updates
- When you buy the software you are entitled to free updates, forever. No more money wasted on major upgrades like it is with other companies. And we upgrade our software a lot!

Transient Shaper
Transient Shaper by Softube
Images
Description
Being able to control the attack and decay of a sound is tremendously useful for anyone mixing music. But Softube's Transient Shaper goes beyond that due to the fact that it's a dual band processor. This means that the user can set it to affect only the treble or bass portion of a sound—separately for the Sustain and Punch parameters—and leave the rest untouched. This opens up a new realm of possibilities.
Transient shaping has become a vital technique in music mixing. The ability to sharpen or soften the onset of a sound, as well as lengthen or shorten the decay, has proven very useful for giving each sound just the right size and position in the mix. Transient Shaper takes this concept one step further, by letting the user affect either the entire frequency range—as most similar tools—or only the treble frequencies or bass frequencies.
![]()
Use Cases
For example, on drum overheads, this means you can turn up the Sustain knob and set its frequency control to Wide. This will simultaneously stretch out the room sound and cymbals, as well as give you more sustain and boom to the toms. But let's say you don't want boomier toms. Then you set the Sustain knob's frequency control switch to Hi, in which case the Sustain processing only affects the high frequencies, i.e. the cymbals and room, but leaves the toms just the way they are. Set the switch to Lo, and hear how you now only get boom from the toms, but the room sound and cymbals stay unaffected.
More than Percussion
The dual band operation makes Transient Shaper useful for much more than drum and percussion sounds. Give a vocal track clarity and presence by adding some high frequency transients—add Punch with its frequency slider set to Hi. Or create a darker and more rounded sound that oozes with vintage vibe by instead turning down the Punch knob. Use it on piano, bass, guitar, electronic drums—Transient Shaper works on a wide range of sound types.
The crossover frequency is user selectable, as is the Punch behavior (Fast or Slow). We also added an output distortion section called Clip.

- iLok generation 2 and up, if you intend to use a physical iLok dongle for authorizing your plug-ins (note that an iLok dongle is not a requirement).
- In theory, any 64-bit VST, VST3, AU, or AAX (11.0.2 or higher) compatible host application should work.
- The most recent maintenance release of the DAW application is recommended.
However, due to plug-in host differences between DAWs - and our own rigorous testing standards - we only officially test our plug-ins and instruments in the most recent versions of Pro Tools, Logic Pro, Cubase, Live, Studio One, Digital Performer, Reaper and Sonar. Softube plugins are not tested in the non-listed systems, but they most likely work as long as the system requirements are met. We cannot guarantee a solution for issues in unsupported systems.

Transgressor 2
Transient Shaper by Boz Digital Labs
Images
Description
Not Just Another Transient Designer
A true one of a kind, Transgressor goes beyond the limits of standard transient designers. It gives you the ability to craft the sound of drums and other instruments not just in terms of attack and sustain, but timbrally as well. The Transgressor combines a transient designer with two equalizers. No big deal you say? Any EQ plug-ins will do? Au contraire mon frère. Transgressor not only lets you equalize the attack and sustain portions of the instrument’s envelope individually (yes, you read that right; attack can be equalized differently from sustain), but it also lets you dial in the specific low, mid, and high frequencies independently on each. What if you need a brighter attack but want to keep the dark resonance of toms or kick drum? Perhaps you need more midrange attack but wish to brighten the resonance of a hi-hat? Perhaps you’re happy with the overall sound of snare but the attack is just a little too bright. The answer is the Transgressor (you must have seen that coming). Only Transgressor gives you the ability to control transients and sustain without compromising one for the other.
EQ Transients and Sustain Individually
EQ plug-ins only make global changes to an instrument; whatever you do to the transient is also done to the sustain and decay. Even dynamic EQs change the entire envelope, even if it’s only momentarily. Transgressor gives you 2 EQs. One for your attack and one for your sustain, letting you shape exactly the way you want your attack to sound. There are three bands to each EQ section (low, mid, high) with variable frequency selection and gain for each band. Each band also gives you three selectable filter types that are particularly suited to each band. For example, the low band has high-pass, low shelf, and bell, while the mid band has bell, bandpass, and slant, which boosts highs while cutting lows and vice versa.
EQ Applications
Do you want to add bite to your snare without increasing the snare buzz? Transgressor is your go-to plug-in. Do you need to reduce the ringing in your snare without changing the tone? No worries. Transgressor does it easily. Transgressor is also a great tool for reamping a snare. The high-frequency attack coming through a speaker will not excite the snare head enough. You need midrange information to make that happen, which requires transient design and dramatic EQing. Transgressor’s ability to boost the gain on the low and midrange portion of the attack, while eliminating sustain lets you do it in one simple process. Better still, it gives you the ability to easily craft the sound of the re-amped snare with adjustments on the fly.
If you’ve ever fallen asleep on the control room sofa while producer and drummer went through every snare in the known universe to find the right one, only to be replaced in the mix with CPU-eating software, Transgressor can save both time and CPU resources. Don’t like the snare the client sent you? Forget about time-consuming snare sample shootouts. Transgressor’s powerful EQ and transient- and resonance-shaping capabilities can transform the sound of any drum to suit the song and your taste.
Not just for drums, Transgressor can also bring out the snap and pop of a funk bass without turning it into a baritone guitar. Plus, you can get really clever and create unique-sounding drums and instruments that will have other producers calling you up to find out how you got that sound.
Sidechain Sleight of Hand
In addition to giving you full control over the sound of your transients, Transgressor adds another layer of creativity by letting you use the detector with an external sidechain. This lets you adjust the EQ and sustain of any instrument triggered by another. For example, some engineers use room mics just for ambience. However, if you mix like Chris Lord-Alge and derive the body of your drum sound from the room mics, perhaps you’ll find that you need to increase the attack on the snare drum hits. Put Transgressor on your room mics and route the snare drum to the sidechain. Then the transients will only trigger when the snare drum is hit, but it will affect the sound on the room mics. This is highly effective for getting big drum sounds without washing them out in reverb.
Whether it’s hard-hitting tight drums, or big sustained drums, Transgressor lets you dial them in exactly the way you want. Download the demo now and be forgiven for all your transient-shaping sins.

MTransientMB
Transient Shaper by MeldaProduction
Images
Description
MTransientMB is an advanced transient processor with simple controls, but powerful features. It is designed to control attack and sustain, hence it is especially useful for processing drums, rhythmic guitars and other percussive sounds. Thanks to its multiband core it can easily process whole drumsets with outstanding audio quality.
Features
- Advanced transient detector and processor - unlike common dynamic processors, MTransientMB is based on a powerful transient detector rather than an envelope follower. This way it features only a few controls, yet it minimizes sounds artifacts.
- Dual user interface - the plugin is not only extremely versatile, but also quick and easy-to-use thanks to 2 graphical user interfaces. First there is a simple default one with several predefined modes, but just a few controls, which lets you start quickly and easily without any knowledge. All you need to do is choose what you want and use a few knobs. And the plugins also has an advanced mode, which provides all the extreme features the plugin offers.
- 1-6 fully configurable independent bands built on 3 perfectly transparent crossover algorithms (analog, linear-phase and hybrid) with fully adjustable limits and input gains. Includes peak meters for all bands and the master.
- Continuously adjustable oscillator shape - every oscillator in our plugins is defined by a mix of predefined oscillator shapes, custom waveforms edited using our MeldaProduction Envelope System (MES), step-sequencer and several methods for algorithmic postprocessing. It is the most advanced approach for defining oscillator shapes.
- 4 global modulators - in each instance you can have up to 4 fully-featured modulators that can modulate any set of parameters including other modulators! In this way you can make the sound move in time, be less static and more interesting. Each modulator works as LFO, follower, midi/audio triggered ADSR envelopes, a pitch detector or even a combination.
- Up to 8 channels surround processing - our plugins can handle not only mono and stereo signals, but also up to 8 channels of surround audio, making them ideal for audio production for movies, games etc.
- Full randomization - using a single button you can generate completely new settings. By clicking the button you can walk through the billions of possible settings and find the best one for you! And if that's too much, you can just hold ctrl and MTransientMB will only slightly modify existing settings.
- Adjustable up-sampling 1x-16x to minimize aliasing and get an even clearer sound.
- Extremely advanced and easy-to-use user interface - our products are always designed to enhance the workflow. You can easily change all values, fine-tune each control in multiple ways. Easy orientation in a standardized GUI, textual editing and smooth visualization with almost unlimited zooming are standard in all of our plugins. Moreover our plugins are the world first (and still the only ones), which support resizable and stylable GUI's.
- Automatic synchronization to host tempo - every oscillator and modulator in the plugin can automatically synchronize to the host providing as natural a sound as possible while not offending other tracks.
- MIDI controllers with MIDI learn - you can map any parameter to any MIDI controller or MIDI keyboard and control it realtime or record and automate it.
- Very fast, optimized for SSE and SSE2 processors.
- Global preset management and online preset exchange - using a title button you can save your settings (which are shared on the computer) so you can easily access these in other songs. Moreover all plugins can automatically share your presets and download presets of other users from our servers (if this feature is enabled). We are building a community and you can be a part of it!
- Fully automatable.

Quantum
Transient Shaper by Wavesfactory

Description
Beyond the Transient Shaper
Quantum is an audio plugin that separates an audio signal into its attack and sustain parts. It includes 16 built-in high-quality effects that you can apply to each path independently. Quantum redefines what's possible in transient shaping.
![]()
A transient shaper is an audio processor that can increase or reduce the transients or tonal parts of a signal. It has become an indispensable mixing tool in every studio.
Quantum automatically detects and classifies the transients of your signal, separating the sound into two paths: attack and sustain. The level of control you have now is unmatched, giving you the possibility to add effects to each path separately, before joining them back together.
When dealing with innovation Wavesfactory struggled to classify their own creations. Is Quantum a transient shaper? In a way it is, but when you compare it to a regular transient shaper you fall short, as it is so much bigger. Quantum is innovative and it doesn't fit into a simple category.
Smart Transient Detection
![]()
Quantum is a state of the art transient shaper at its core. Wavesfactory uses this technology to automatically detect transients. By doing so, Wavesfactory got artefact-less, more natural results than other methods that can sound digital and full of artefacts.
Quantum takes away the need for a threshold parameter, which you would have to set for each track. That way you can work faster and get pristine results.
Endless Possibilities
![]()
Quantum is not a one-trick pony, it's quite the opposite. Think about it like a toolbox. It's a comprehensive set of tools that let you control, mangle, manipulate and completely transform your tracks.
EQ your transients, re-pitch your drums without losing any of the attack, reduce plosives from vocals, why not EQ plosives only? Add reverb to just the attack of your drums to get a much more focused and clean room feel. Possibilities are really endless, and Wavesfactory were sure that you will come up with new ways of using them that they couldn't imagine right now. Be creative!
Built-in Effects Suite
Using the main volume knob for attack and sustain already makes a big difference in your sound. But Quantum comes with 16 high-quality DSP effects that you can add to the attack or sustain part of the signal independently, boosting exponentially the sonic capabilities of the plugin.
-
Chorus - Stereo chorus with 4 LFO modulates voices spread in the stereo field.

Oxford TransMod
Transient Shaper by Sonnox
Images
Description
Modify the transients in your tracks by either increasing or reducing their attacks. Sounds simple, though our bespoke adaptive process working in the background is anything but. Fortunately the interface keeps things straightforward, with two main controls quickly allowing you to bring ‘soggy’ drums to life or give more punch to a bass.
But TransMod is just as relevant to any electronic sound as it is to acoustic ones – pulling transients forward in your mix, or pushing them further back by making the ambience around them more evident. And all this is accomplished without the tonal changes associated with compression.

UNCHIRP
Transient Shaper by Zynaptiq
Images
Description
![]()
Codec Artifact Removal & Transient Retrieval
UNCHIRP is a plug-in for removing the most obnoxious artifacts associated with lossy audio encoding and other FFT based processes, such as spectral de-noising. Reduce musical noise, suppress high frequency chirping (also known as underwater sound, warbling or the tweeties), fix transient smearing, and restore lost high frequencies – UNCHIRP does it all in one go. If you need to salvage poorly encoded music, speech that has gone through a low bit rate uplink, material that has been de-noised too strongly, or footage recorded with consumer mobile devices – or if you simply want to add contour and vibrance to already great sounding recordings – UNCHIRP is your (only) friend.
Key Features:
- Suppression of high frequency "chirping" artifacts.
- Reduction of "musical noise" artifacts.
- Transient Synthesis to augment or replace smeared, over-limited or otherwise compromised transients.
- Psycho-Acoustically optimized Treble Boost circuit with Enhance and Excite modes.
- Break-Point Curve Editor based frequency-dependent processing.
- Side-only algorithm mode for working with joint-stereo encoded material.
- HD algorithm mode for increased quality processing with higher CPU load (off-line processing recommended).
- SYNC parameter allows processing to be synchronized to signal transients for increasing clarity.
- Output limiter for unsupervised use in batch processing applications.
- Highly time-efficient workflow and UI.
The Problem
Both lossy codecs as well as many of today's DSP processes (like de-noisers) make heavy use of a process called the Fast Fourier Transform (FFT). This method has some major advantages. It also has some major drawbacks, which are the root cause for a variety of artifacts, such as Musical Noise, High Frequency Modulation (a.k.a. Chirping), Transient Smearing, and overall "blurring" due to low localization in the time domain. Because of the way human hearing works, these artifacts are very obvious and sound distinctly unnatural. Additionally, lossy codecs and de-noisers often cause a loss of high frequencies, further degrading your audio. UNCHIRP is the medicine for all of these artifact types.
Two Is More Than One
UNCHIRP identifies the birdies, and applies proprietary processing to make them disappear. It offers two different, simultaneously available algorithms to achieve this, Musical Noise Reduction and Dechirping, each featuring its own technological approach, unique sonic properties and its own breakpoint curve editor for frequency dependent processing. At Zynaptiq, we like over-delivering.
Snap!
Like our award-winning de-reverberator UNVEIL, UNCHIRP allows bypassing transients for natural sounding results even with extreme settings. But we didn't stop there – we've added frequency dependency to the bypass threshold, and frequency dependent transient attenuation/boost. The new Transient Synthesis can replace transients compromised by FFT processing such as lossy encoding, or by excessive dynamics processing. Finally, the Sync function synchronizes processing to the signal's transients, adding overal clarity and coherence. These algorithms work equally well for fixing problem material as well as for augmenting already great sounding recordings, adding impact, detail and contour. It's like pulling a curtain aside. Try it, you'll love it.
The Shining
And then, there's Treble Boost, which deals with the fact that low bit rate encoded audio may show a "dead band" in the treble range - there's simply a hard-limit to what any given bit rate can capture in terms of frequency. Regular EQ won't help because there's nothing to boost. The Treble Boost circuit offers two ways to recover some of that treble: a psycho-acoustically optimized Enhancer – equalization that is tailored in such a way that it implies frequency content in the dead band to the listener – and an Exciter, which synthesizes new harmonics to "fill the gap". These sound so good that you may end up turning to these for your treble processing in general – even with already great sounding signals – to add shine and vibrance to your audio.
Supraluminal
As time is the most scarce of resources, at Zynaptiq we're obsessed with saving it for you. UNCHIRP sports a variety of workflow features to help you get results faster than light. There's an output limiter to allow for unsupervised batch-processing without overs, an I/O difference function to quickly hear what exactly you're removing, frequency dependent processing for all key parameters using breakpoint curves with snap-to-zero and copy/paste functionality, and our preset manager that writes presets that you can then use across all platforms and formats. Start using UNCHIRP and go ahead and book another week of holidays.
Synergies Galore
UNCHIRP is available for purchase separately as well as bundled with our award-winning reverb removal, adaptive equalization and polyphonic pitch processing plug-ins UNVEIL, UNFILTER and PITCHMAP, as part of the ZAP Bundle. As a team, these tools give you unprecedented access to the heart of your audio, and do so so efficiently that you'll wonder how you managed without them all these years.

Copy Protection
ADAPTIVERB uses the latest PACE copy protection, which allows you to place your activation on your machine or on an iLok 2* (not included). You will need a free iLok.com account to use our software, even for the the demos – but you do not necessarily need the iLok 2 dongle, if your machine has internet access (activation of a system without internet connectivity requires an iLok 2 device). All required software is installed along with our plugins, but we generally recommend downloading the latest versions directly from iLok.com.
Please note: The older, first generation (blue) iLok is not supported!
CPU Load
While they are highly optimized, our plug-ins use a LOT of CPU due to the complex nature of the magic they perform. Please use the free trial to evaluate whether your system has sufficient resources to utilize the software effectively! We recommend setting your playback buffer size to at least 512 or ideally 1024 samples for optimum performance.
As our plug-ins sport unique features not found in any other software, we highly recommend reading their manuals to ensure you get the most out of them!
