Since releasing Evolve in 2008, Heavyocity has built their reputation on equipping the modern composer with cutting-edge hybrid cinematic scoring elements. NOVO takes that ethos to the next level. Armed with the sonic potential of a 50-piece orchestra, Heavyocity employed their signature sound-design techniques: tweaking, processing, mangling, and mashing up these pristine sources into the most inspired, most dynamic, and most evocative elements they’ve ever created. CYCLE

NOVO delivers a vast library that sounds great right ‘out-of-the-box’, but what truly gives NOVO its power is the level of control and sound manipulation provided by the interface. Enter CYCLE, a brand new dynamic playback engine from Heavyocity. The product of years of in-house development, CYCLE boasts a set of controls that can quickly create rhythmic pulses, swells, stutters, and glitch effects, as well as effectual granular-style pads for ambient drones and textures. CYCLE can be used to add subtle motion to a sustained pad, or to completely transform a sound into glitchy mayhem. Long, evolving sequences can be crafted by chaining up to eight patterns together. The possibilities for sound design with CYCLE are virtually limitless; proceed with caution.

Macros

With the multitude of sound-shaping controls available in NOVO, wouldn’t it be nice to consolidate them all into one, assignable knob? We thought so too. Introducing MACRO CONTROL, the front-and-center control knob for the String Designer and Loop Designer. It can be assigned to control multiple parameters across each channel including volume, pan, EQ, envelope, and various effects. Using the MACRO sequencer, you can program swells, stutters, and sequenced effects for subtly evolving timbres or frenetic, aggressive modulation. Each preset comes with a unique set of MACRO knob assignments, allowing you to instantly alter each sound to your specific needs.

Vir2 recorded 13 different brass and reed instruments for MOJO 2 to fulfil any horn need you’ll encounter, and for version 2.0 they have added four new simulated muted instruments! Each horn comes with 13 different articulations including Sustains, Staccato, Stabs, Bend Down, Octave Run Down & Up, Doits, Rise To Hit, Shakes, Trills, Swells, Crescendos, and Falls, as well as up to four velocity layers and three round robins.

• True Legato: With Legato Mode you can play the most realistic melodies possible. Vir2 meticulously recorded the transition period between each and every note, allowing you to play beautiful horn lines that sound truly lifelike.

There are four unique era modes that act as time machines, effortlessly transporting all seventeen included horns from one iconic era to the next. Era settings include: Modern, Retro (60’s-70’s), Vintage 1 (40’s-50’s), and Vintage 2 (20’s-30’s).

Pads

Following in the footsteps of Vir2 Instruments' award-winning Electri6ity electric guitar virtual instrument, Acou6tics applies the same advanced technologies to re-imagine the virtual acoustic guitar. The heart and soul of pop, funk, and big band horn sections

Inspired by legendary groups like Tower of Power and the big bands of decades past, MOJO is capable of emulating everything from a sultry sax solo to a screaming full big band playing at the top of their lungs.

Now at the tips of your fingers is the most versatile horn section in the world, MOJO: Horn Section, which offers the most flexible and innovative approach to pop, funk, jazz, and big band horns ever created in a virtual instrument.

Pushing the boundaries of sampling and scripting technology far beyond traditional sample libraries, MOJO offers a simple but feature-packed interface. No need to decide in advance which articulation you want to play. Simply load the instrument, turn the Ensemble knob to specify how many players you want playing that instrument (from a soloist to a dectet) and begin controlling the instrument from the keyboard. More than a dozen articulations are instantly loaded and intelligently handled via performance features and keyswitches. Behind the scenes, a humanizing function, smart release layers, and custom legato and vibrato tools assist the player in reproducing the ultimate dimensions in realism. Crescendos and swells sync instantly to host tempos and can be triggered in real time.

Included in the instrument collection are: soprano, alto, tenor, and baritone saxophones, trumpet (open, muted, and piccolo), flugelhorn, trombone (open and muted), bass trombone, and clarinet. The articulation list varies for each instrument, but generally includes sustains, stabs, staccatos, trills, slurs, shakes, octave runs, rise to hits, falls (including four different lengths), doits, bends, stylistic riffs, special effects, and tempo-synced swells and crescendos. All samples are recorded in 24-bit stereo using the finest preamps in the world, including a vintage Neve 1073 and a LaChapell Audio 992EG, and mics by AKG, Neumann, and Coles.

MOJO is powered by the popular Kontakt engine, offering total integration into all major sequencers via its AudioUnit, VST, and RTAS plug-ins, as well as standalone operation.

At the heart of MOJO are twelve core instruments: Trumpet, Trombone, Trumpet Muted, Trombone Muted, Piccolo Trumpet, Bass Trombone, Soprano Sax, Alto Sax, Tenor Sax, Bari Sax, Clarinet, and Flugelhorn. Using MOJO is as simple as deciding which instrument to load. Solo and ensemble playing is built into each individual core patch, as are all articulations and release types. MOJO makes it as easy and straightforward as possible to begin playing without having to make too many decisions or sifting through dozens of patches. When any of the twelve core instruments are loaded, this interface is displayed.

The first two knobs allow you to control how many players should be playing this instrument (from one to ten) and which mode they should be playing in (polyphonic, monophonic, or legato). These knobs, as well as virtually every other parameter in the MOJO interface, can be controlled via MIDI, so these knobs can be programmed and adjusted on the fly. Using these features, it's easy to sequence a stacked trumpet section, then switch to a solo trumpet, then return to the section, all within one MIDI track or performance.

As you add players to the ensemble, MOJO intelligently spreads the ensemble around the stereo field and gives you control over their spread, tuning variation, and other aspects of the group.

The onscreen display shows you which articulation and release type is active at any given time. Each instrument includes various articulations and release layers which are triggered via keyswitches, such as bends, runs, crescendos, swells, doits, falls, staccatos, stabs, and more.

Doits, falls of various speeds, and up-slurs are available as releases and are also triggerable via keyswitches. In other words, hold down a sustain chord, then hold down the keyswitch trigger, then exactly when you release the original chord, MOJO will play the release articulation, ascending from the original notes you played.

Swells and crescendos are programmed to sync to the tempo of the host sequencer. Using MOJO's advanced automatic timestretching, you can configure MOJO to play swells and crescendos that are the exact number of beats you want, from 1 beat to 18 beats. MOJO will also follow a changing tempo, so if the tempo changes in the middle of the song, swells and crescendos will adjust automatically.

Each core instrument includes a full suite of integrated effects, such as compression, limiting, reverb, EQ, and more.

Many other engines and controls have been integrated into MOJO, including physically modeled vibrato, advanced humanization, character control (allowing adjustment between mellow vs. aggressive playing), attack control for more percussive playing, and EZRoom one-click convolution reverb.

In addition to the twelve core instruments discussed above, MOJO includes prerecorded riffs and special effects.

Riffs

MOJO includes an extensive library over over 1600 riffs spread across the twelve instruments. Each riff has been recorded in specific keys and has been tempo-synced, and the MOJO engine allows for instant transposition and time-stretching of the riffs.

The interface of each riffs patch looks like this (click to enlarge). Each patch is notated with the instrument, original BPM, and original key.

Controls in the bottom right corner allow for the instant transposition into other keys. Tempo-syncing is done automatically; MOJO reads the tempo of the host sequencer and adjusts the riff accordingly.

MOJO also includes hundreds of stylistic special effects. These are typically one-shot samples which can be added to enhance realism when recording instruments in MOJO.

Humanize Engine

The integrated humanizing engine works to provide variety in sample selection and differentiation. The core library includes two distinct takes of nearly everything in the MOJO library, and the humanizing engine works to select alternate takes and introduce tiny randomization elements to avoid the dreaded machine-gun effect and to make playback sound as real and varied as a real horn ensemble. Full control over the extent of the humanization (as well as complete bypass) are offered in the interface.

Character Control

MOJO offers an adjustable Character control that lets you tailor velocity response to different styles of playing, in six degrees from mellow to aggressive. A Punch knob allows you to add additional attack intensity for rhythmic playing. All parameters are controllable by remote MIDI CC's.

Physically Modeled Vibrato

MOJO includes several distinct types of physically modeled vibrato. Going far beyond traditional LFO vibrato, the physically modeled vibrato engine recreates authentic vibrato types created by analyzing real horn players. This special vibrato is available in all MOJO instruments except for the saxophones, where real sampled vibrato is used instead.

EZRoom

EZRoom is an integrated convolution reverb option, allowing the user to instantly place the percussion instruments in one of more than fifty different custom sonic spaces; everything from chapels and halls to caverns, small rooms, and unique esoteric spaces is included. When EZRoom is activated, new knobs for dry and wet levels appear, allowing full control over the level and balance of the convoluted sound.

The Mercury Symphonic Boy Choir is easily the single most comprehensive, playable and powerfully deep-sampled children's choir ever released. There is a profoundly moving quality in the sound of a traditional English boy's choral ensemble -- solemn lows, angelic highs and an overwhelming innocence that harkens back to the days of youth and purity. With Mercury, we managed to capture this unique spirit as we painstakingly sampled the Pacific Boychoir (ages 8-13) in the same large crystal-clear hall that we recorded our Olympus choirs (Mars & Venus), while drawing on our past production experiences with the original Tonehammer Requiem and Liberis girl's choir releases. Conducted by Robert Geary and Directed by Kevin Fox, this award-winning chorus produces pure stellar tonality and soul through a wide range of different essential choral articulations. Mercury features 42 staccato & 42 sustaining marcato syllables, each with deep round-robin and stacking/layering capabilities, 18 tempo-syncing Latin poly-syllabic sustains with phrase-synchronus polyphonic legato, molto fortissimo poly-staccatos, 6 dynamic true legato vowels (ah, oh, oo, eh, ee, mm) with intercal transition speed control and a classic ensemble whistling legato. It also includes droned and whispered chants, staccatos and sutains, choral trills, sweeps, swells and other choral effects. The Kontakt 5 presets in this library are designed for the full retail version of Native Instruments Kontakt 5.1 or later. Owners of Kontakt 4 (version 4.2.4) can still use the Kontakt 4 presets we've included in this library, but they lack some tempo-synching, time-stretching and other newer engine features. Kontakt is an industry-standard advanced virtual instrument / software sampler platform.

Kit Designer

In the years they spent developing Damage 2, Heavyocity made the firm decision that inflicting Damage wasn’t going to be just for composers and their 88 weighted keys. Thus, the Kit Designer was born. Consider it a producer’s playground, with its 16-voice Drum Kit layout designed to integrate seamlessly with Maschine, MPC-type, and Standard MIDI kit control schemes. Those of you exclusively on keyboard controllers shouldn’t feel left out, the Kit Designer’s sounds are completely MIDI Note assignable, and the independent FX chains for each voice -- complete with compression, reverb, saturation, and more -- provide a ripe canvas for deep sound design and experimentation. Over 50 kit snapshots, stylized in Hybrid and Damaged categories, are great starting points for inspiring total track destruction.

Loop Designer

Aeris combines the usefulness and practicality of beautifully recorded male & female choirs and solo singers with the powerful sound design capabilities of the Kontakt engine. Vir2 multi-sampled all singers performing vowels Ah’s, Oh’s, Oo’s, and Hums. Composers will easily be able to create lush vocal performances for their projects with different articulations including non-vibrato, vibrato, and true legato.

In order to give users a fresh take on vocal performances, Vir2 collaborated with industry-leading professional sound designers to create a diverse collection of vocal pads using Aeris’ choir and solo singer sample content.

Aside from playable vocal patches, Aeris also provides the user with a vast amount of sound design tools for endless customization. With up to four LFO’s, users can modulate their choice of volume, pan, low pass, high pass, bandpass, and pitch. Additionally, Aeris includes dual sequencers for complex pattern creation, as well as eight powerful effects to make sound design truly limitless.

Heavyocity’s DM-307 is a highly-stylized collection of modular synth drums, live percussion, and processed classic analog drum machines. With more than 3,600 unique sounds and loops housed in 1500+ presets, DM-307 introduces innovative ways to quickly and easily create production-ready beats in a variety of contemporary styles; including electronic, hip hop, industrial, ethnic and cinematic.

Similar to Damage and AEON, there are 3 levels of effects provided in the instrument. Apply effects globally with the Master effects, tweak individual sounds with the ADSR, filter, EQ, and tune, or engage the signature Advanced Trigger FX™  to quickly modulate and alter the sound.

Tempo sync is automatic, and exporting a loop's MIDI data to your sequencer is simply drag-and-drop. Tweak your grooves quickly with the integrated keyswitches for effects and stutters, and create instant impacts with the unique 'Analog Hits'.

Loops

DM-307 provides a host of loop menus and single loop presets. Stocked with over 1200 loops in 5 contemporary styles. , you can quickly mix and match kicks, snares, hits, and other elements to build complex layered rhythms and grooves.

The Loop Menus are intelligently mapped, and formatted into “breakout” presets, allowing you to perform the full loop in a single key, or mix and match the individual layers of different loops, all in one preset. Single Loop presets provide level, pan, and tuning for each slice, and allows you to recompose via midi drag-and-drop.

Kits

DM-307 offers more than 80 different kits, built from nearly 2,000 unique sounds. These kits combine organic drums with processed classic drum machines and aggressive modular synth sounds to create a one-of-a-kind palette of genre-defying percussion.

The signature ‘Analog Hits’ and ‘Tempo Synced Risers’ are perfect for adding impact and emotion to any track.

Effects

DM-307 offers 3 different levels of effects - apply effects globally with the Master FX (Reverb, Delay, Distortion, Modulation, Twist and Punish), Trigger Performance Effects, or tweak individual sounds.

The Advanced Trigger FX (pictured here) are switchable real-time effects with incredible scope for intuitive and creative sound tweaking. Control the speed at which the effect is engaged and disengaged, or turn on the sequence button, and modulate the effect changes with a 32 step sequencer.

The signature Punish and Twist knobs preside over everything, adding aggressive drive and character to your beats.

Live Percussion

For nearly a year, Heavyocity captured in-depth recordings of a wide array of percussion instruments. Sounds were recorded through an all analog signal chain with gear including API, Grace, and Neve mic pre’s, and Manley EQ’s.

With instruments ranging from congas and bongos, to small metals and triangles, and an arsenal of drum kits, DM-307 provides a vast range of organic timbres at your fingertips.

Classic Analog Drums

DM-307 provides Heavyocity’s signature ‘Music-meets-sound-design’ approach on the highly sought after sounds of classic analog drum machines.

Sounds were captured using pristine analog gear like the Neve, Wunder, and Chandler mic pres, and then processed with outboard gear from UA, Eventide, Dramastic Audio, and Dangerous Audio. The results are punchy, crisp and dynamic, providing serious character to the sounds.

Modular Synth Drums

Aggressive, Fat, and In Your Face - DM-307 contains the uncompromising sound of true analog percussion. All of these exceptional sounds stem from using complex synthesis techniques with unique custom modular synth rigs.

Using an array of modules including VCOs, Vactrol Filters, Vacuum Tube Compressors, Vacuum-tube distortion, and Analog Bit Designers, all sound shaping took place completely within the analog synthesis realm, custom designing sounds from the ground up.

From Lyrical and expressive to dark and aggressive, AEON Melodic gives you 25 GB (12.86GB on disk) of organic and synth melodic instruments, arpeggiated instruments and epic One-Shots.

This unique collection combines traditional, ethnic, and orchestral instruments with searing synths and edgy samples, all created with Heavyocity's signature quality.

AEON's Melodic component provides 315 presets and 9,800+ samples of playable instruments in a deeply customizable interface. This vast collection is comprised of traditional instruments, unique ensembles, aggressive analog synths, hybrid presets, and signature “AEON HITS”. Quickly create motifs or build intricate rhythmic patterns with your own melodies in the custom Arpeggiator. Twist, Punish, Effect

Globally affect the preset with one of the 4 Master FX (Delay, Mod, Drive, and Convolution). You have control over four effect-specific parameters (like effect amount, rate, size, or depth). Dial in the aggression with the signature “Punish” Knob, a combination of saturation, distortion, and compression. Or, modulate the shape of the sound with the new “Twist” knob.

The sound of AEON comes from a combination of deeply sampled Organic Instruments, Racks of Analog Modular Synths and Fx, and an advance arsenal of FX all housed in the KONTAKT 5 PLAYER Engine. All of the instruments and arpeggiated presets are designed to complement one another, and are split up into Organic, Organic Arp, Synth, Synth Arp, Hybrid, and the Signature Aeon Hits.

Play

AEON offers over 130 multi-sampled melodic instruments and 80+ Synths and Basses (ranging from pristine and ethereal to punchy and aggressive). Sculpt your tone with per-channel Tune, Pan, Level, and EQs or add sizzle and punch with the 4-band Master EQ. New in AEON is the ability to control the modulation of filters with an envelope or LFO. Alter the amount and rate of an LFO, or trigger the Filter with an ADSR envelope.

Arpeggiate

AEON's advanced arpeggiator allows for composition of melodic and rhythmic phrases. Load one of the 5 factory presets, or save your own for use in any preset. You have full control over step amount and can adjust time signature, note subdivision (straight or triplet), individual note duration, pitch, and velocity.

There are also controls for retrigger, glide, poly/mono, octave randomizing, and playback type (chord, pairs, etc). It includes 8 fully customizable and linkable patterns per preset to create long and intricate melodic phrases (up to 128 steps).

Effect

Three levels of effects are intrinsically bound to the presets - apply effects globally, trigger performance effects, or tweak individual sounds.

Over the course of two years, Heavyocity captured in-depth recordings of a wide array of instruments. Over 10,000 samples were recorded at 48 kHz, 24-bit in world class studios. Instruments ranging from Tuned Cowbells and Upright Bass to pristine Crotales and Harps provide you with a vast range of timbres at your fingertips.

Unique Ensembles

AEON provides a vast range of sampled material including a number of unique ensembles. Performed in unison, these ensembles were made up of instruments like Tuned Dinner Bells, Stringed Oil Cans, and Plucked Guitar.

Pure Analog Synth

For AEON, Heavyocity captured true analog fatness from a combination of modular analog synth rigs. Carefully crafted, tuned, and tracked, these sounds range from serene to horrifically aggressive.
