TIME FACTORY II

Pitch Shifter by Zynaptiq

Images

Description

Important Note: TIME FACTORY II is available as Mac OS X stand-alone application only.

Precision Batch Time Stretching And Pitch Shifting

TIME FACTORY II for Mac OS X is a professional application for high-quality audio time stretching and pitch shifting. It features the critically acclaimed MPEX, ZTX and ClearScale algorithms and allows changing duration and pitch of any audio file independently over a very wide range of stretch ratios – with unprecedented fidelity and timing precision. TIME FACTORY II supports phase-synced processing of mono, stereo and multichannel files up to 384kHz sample rate, all popular audio file types including broadcast formats with meta-data preservation, and features industrial-grade batch processing as well as formant shifting and correction. Whether you need to perform frame rate (FPS) conversion for film sound, change the tempo and/or pitch of music tracks for production or remixing a song, design new sounds or slow down music for transcription – TIME FACTORY II is your weapon of choice.

Straight Forward

Getting sample accurately precise results with TIME FACTORY II is fast and easy. Drop some files onto the application, set stretching/shifting amount, hit process...done. You can enter stretching factor either as new target duration in hours/minutes/seconds, a percentage of change in length, source and target BPM or FPS, the equivalent pitch transposition amount, or use sample frames as unit for the new target length. Whatever your preferred unit of measurement is, TIME FACTORY II lets you use it in a straight-forward way.

Precision, As In "Precision"

When stretching audio, it is vitally important that timing is precise. Particularly with very long files, such as a film reel, this can be challenging for other solutions, where you may end up with loosened lip sync or drum timing, even flanging in the transients. Not so with TIME FACTORY II, which uses extremely high precision mathematics to ensure timing accuracy to the highest degree possible without the obvious artifacts commonly associated with time stretching. Which is why TIME FACTORY II is recognized across the industry as one of the best possible solutions for stretching audio.

Freedom Of Choice

TIME FACTORY II doesn't come with one industry standard stretching algorithm, it comes with five. Each of these algorithms - MPEX 2, MPEX 3, ZTX, quickStretch, ClearScale - has its own particular strengths, parameters and applications. This gives you the option to pick and choose algorithms depending on preference, signal type and the intended result. You make the choice, TIME FACTORY II does the work.

Compatible To The Max

TIME FACTORY II supports phase synced processing of an arbitrary number of channels, making it an ideal solution for frame rate conversion of cinematic and broadcast material. It also supports any sample rate up to 384kHz (DXD), and any bit depth up to 32 bit, making it compatible to today's highest fidelity formats. Speaking of which...of course, TIME FACTORY II also supports all popular file formats, including AIFF, WAV, BWF with meta-data preservation, WAVE64, MBWF/RF64, CoreAudio and even the venerable SoundDesigner II. It also imports MP3 and AAC directly from iTunes if required. Whatever you throw at it, TIME FACTORY II can deal with it.

Fast, Faster, TIME FACTORY II

High-quality time stretching can take time. A lot of it. Which is why you may not want to waste any, waiting for the process to complete. Hence TIME FACTORY II is built around an industrial grade batch processing engine. Set up parameters, click "process", and go ahead and focus on the other tasks at hand while your Mac processes all of those files for you. And to speed up your workflow even more, TIME FACTORY II comes with factory presets for common tasks like PAL<->NTSC frame rate conversion, and allows you to save your own custom settings. It's not a time stretching application, it's a time stretching powerhouse. Have a look at what TIME FACTORY II can do for you using the free trial today!

PITCHMAP

Pitch Shifter by Zynaptiq

Images

Description

It's Full Of Stars

PITCHMAP is the world's first and only plug-in that allows processing the pitch of individual sounds within mixed signals in real-time. It lets you change the melodies and harmonies of any recording by simply playing your own on a MIDI keyboard or creating a pitch map using our stream-lined GUI, and optionally corrects any tuning issues at the same time. As if that weren't enough, PITCHMAP provides functions to suppress individual sounds within a mix, and can apply advanced synthesizer-like sound transformations to your audio. In short, it is an inspiring musical instrument, a precision corrective tool and the only processor that literally lets you shape music with your hands.

PITCHMAP has so many uses we haven't yet discovered all of them ourselves. Here's a couple of the applications we're aware of:

  • Engineers can correct tuning inaccuracies in mixed recordings
  • Composers can try different harmonies for their works in an immediate, hassle-free and inspiring manner
  • Music producers that work with sampled material can now sculpt the music inside the samples as if they were clay in the hands of a potter
  • DJs can adapt the key/scale of their songs to fit into a seamless set
  • Sound designers get a bunch of unique new ways of creating the sounds that make the films and games of today so immersive
  • Mash-Up artists and Re-Mixers now spend minutes instead of hours (or days) adapting the components they use to fit each other
  • Rapid song/score prototyping using existing recordings that can be transformed to be something new on-the-fly
  • Mix element suppression under MIDI control
  • Creating unique synthesizer sounds based on a live input
  • Create instant remixes and professional accompaniment tracks directly from your favorite songs or play list

MAP That Pitch

Based on our Mixed-Signal Audio Processing technology (MAP), PITCHMAP internally de-mixes the input signal into individual sounds, including their harmonics and transients. This technique is quite literally rocket science, and is done using perceptive modeling and pattern recognition techniques also used in artificial intelligence applications. The separated sounds can then be individually tuning-corrected and mapped to other pitches, a process we call Pitch Mapping. MAP also enables PITCHMAP's  simple-to-use, yet very effective functions for suppressing or isolating mix elements. In real-time, of course.

Natural

Our MAP process is based on a model of the human perceptive system, including the cochlea and the brain region responsible for interpreting its data. Hence our process is inherently very natural sounding with correct settings and reasonable amounts of pitch modification. The human voice, however, has a very specific sonic topology that is very different from any musical instrument, and human hearing is trained to detect even the most subtle sonic variations in a voice. As a result, processing voice simultaneously with other instruments has been a challenge in the past. To accommodate for this, we've added an extra layer of intelligence that recognizes voice elements and processes them separately. We've called this Natural Mode.

Electric & Creative

Certain pitch correction algorithm artifacts have become quite popular. We've got those, too, if you want them. But our MAP process has more sonic options than that.  We've added parameters called Purify and Electrify that allow making your sound more or less synthetic sounding, and threw in a polyphonic Portamento option named Glide, for good measure. In combination with the live MIDI function, these parameters can basically turn PITCHMAP into a unique synthesizer allowing some very far out sound design.

No PhD Required

Although the DSP code itself is insanely complex, the process of Mapping Pitch is as simple as playing some notes on a MIDI keyboard or dragging sliders on our super-slick GUI to assign source pitches to target pitches. Or you can let your computer do the pitch mapping by using dedicated macro controls to go from one key/scale to another with just a couple of clicks. Changing pitches in a mixed signal has never been so intuitive and musical. Instant correction of tuning issues, straight-forward re-harmonisation or intricate restructuring of a composition's pitches... the choice is yours, PITCHMAP does the rest.

Lightning Fast

To increase workflow efficiency even more, we've provided comprehensive Snapshot functionality. 8 Snapshot slots let you compare multiple settings, adapt the process to different parts of a recording individually and create parameter automation without a headache. Summed up, PITCHMAP gives you near-instant results while at the same time giving you access to every little detail.

So how does PITCHMAP compare to other pitch processing products, like Celemony's Melodyne Editor or Antares' Auto Tune? In a nut-shell: it doesn't. They have different applications and strengths, and complement each other nicely. In simplified words:

  • If you need to tune a solo vocal take or other monophonic instrument, use Auto Tune.
  • If you need to fine-tune or manipulate a single but polyphonic instrument, or a section of instruments, and using off-line editing doesn't break your workflow, use Melodyne.
  • If you need to tune or change the pitches of a full mix or other complex polyphonic signal in real-time and under MIDI control, while retaining all the transient crispness of any percussive elements, or if you want to create far-out sounds, or if you want to try out different harmonies on your loops and recordings from within the creative, musical workflow....use PITCHMAP.

Depending on your field of work, you may want to have all three of them. So grab a copy of PITCHMAP and complete your pitch processing toolkit!

NB: Please note that for tuning some types of polyphonic audio, offline processing may yield better results.

H910 Harmonizer

Pitch Shifter by Eventide

Images

Description

The H910 Harmonizer was the world’s first digital effects processor. With its unique combinations of pitch shifting, modulation and delay, the H910 can be heard on countless ground-breaking works by artists from AC/DC to David Bowie to Frank Zappa. Simply put, nothing sounds quite like it.

A powerful creative tool, the H910 plug-in for AAX, VST and AU is a faithful recreation of the original hardware. Use the H910's pitch changing ability to create specific musical intervals and perfect harmonies, spread guitars, fatten snares, apply subtle organic de-tuning to synths or add slap-back delays to vocals. At extreme settings, you can create unheard-of mechanical sounds, drone effects or robot language using self-oscillation, delay, and anti-feedback.

H910-EKD

A number of enhancements have been added to this release including Keyboard and Envelope pitch control modes, Output 2 Delay Group and a Mixer. This H910-EKD (Envelope/Keyboard/Delay) as it is known, allows the plug-in to be even more responsive to your sound.

The recreation of the original piano-style keyboard remote control allows you to play musical pitch offsets and blend in a second delay line by using new mixer controls for added stereo sound. The new envelope follower uses the input signal to bend the pitch.

Two is Better than One

When you purchase the H910 Harmonizer plug-in, you also receive Eventide’s exclusive H910 Dual Harmonizer. This version recreates the popular technique of running two H910 units in parallel to create lush doubling and other interesting effects.

Features

  • NEW Keyboard and MIDI mapping - The original H910 featured a keyboard remote control which was used live by several artists including Elton John. With the H910 plug-in you can easily use MIDI to control pitch and harmonization in real-time
  • NEW Envelope Follower - An envelope follower has also been implemented in this latest release. Engineers and producers discovered that sending a control voltage to the hardware H910 could be used to slightly (or massively) vary the pitch, creating entirely new sounds. The built-in envelope follower makes exploring these possibilities easy
  • NEW OUT2 Delay Group - adds inspiring attributes to your sound
  • True analog modeling of highly nonlinear electronics for faithful reproduction of the original H910's juicyness and grit
  • Perform perfect pitch changes controlled manually, via MIDI or with Anti-Feedback
  • Anti-Feedback modulates the pitch around unity for a subtle or wild effect
  • Optional "glitching" of original H910 hardware to create unpredictable sounds as it alters pitch
  • Modify pitch by musical intervals (diatonic) to harmonize vocals or solo instruments
  • Delay rhythms and melodies to create everything from slap-back echoes to feedback chaos
  • Create colorful, unique sound effects and drones through self-oscillation
  • Individually control delay outputs and dry/wet mix
  • Mix Lock allows for scrolling through presets or settings while keeping the dry/wet mix constant
  • BONUS: H910 Dual

  • H910 Dual recreates two H910 units running in parallel to create doubling effects and other unique sounds
  • H910 Dual easily fattens and thickens instruments when assigning opposite pitch ratios
  • H910 Dual Stereo (cross-unit) Feedback can cause the incoming signal to shift up and then down continuously
  • The H910 and H910 Dual feature hundreds of presets and include a number of artist presets.

  • Chris Carter (Throbbing Gristle)
  • Robin Finck (Nine Inch Nails)
  • The Butcher Bros. (John Lennon, Bob Dylan)
  • Joe Chiccarelli (Morrissey, Frank Zappa)
  • Roy Hendrickson (Miles Davis, Frank Sinatra)
  • Sasha (Madonna, Hot Chip)
  • The Glitch is Back

  • The original H910’s unique pitch change method introduced random ‘glitches’ into the audio and the word ‘glitch’ into the audio engineer’s vocabulary. Not surprisingly, artists found creative ways to use the glitch and, in fact, years later when the H949 was introduced with advanced de-glitching circuitry, some users were disappointed that the glitch was gone. In addition to the glitch, all of the quirkiness of the original H910 has been emulated. The design predates the introduction of the CD and digital audio sample rate standards (e.g. 44.1 kHz) by nearly a decade. The system clocks at the heart of the design drifted and wobbled introducing a degree of randomness in the effect not found in later crystal-based, precise digital devices. This was evident in the way that the display would flicker between pitch ratio readings. The combination of glitch, randomness and analog signal path, especially when the feedback control was turned up, added an ‘organic’ feel to the sound and that feeling comes through in the plug-in.

  • True End to End Emulation

  • Eventide has painstakingly modeled every section of the analog signal chain to recreate the sounds of the original H910.The original H910 was a 100% software-free, analog and digital processor that predated the earliest practical ADC or DSP chips by several years. It used simple digital logic gates and some of the earliest RAM memory chips but was, in large measure, an analog beast. A custom analog-to-digital converter, companding, filtering and analog feedback combined to give the unit a distinctive sound which this plug-in faithfully re-creates.

  • Join the Elite

  • H910 Hall of FameIn 2007, the H910 was inducted in the technology Hall of Fame. The list of famed producers, audio engineers and musicians that still use it to this day—either in hardware or plug-in form—is a veritable “who’s who” of the recording industry. Thicken drums, create vocal harmonies and make your guitars fill up the track with the best of them. Just ask Tony Visconti (David Bowie, Thin Lizzy, ), Shelly Yakus (John Lennon, U2, Madonna), Tom Lord-Alge (Avril Lavigne, Blink 182, Santana), Tony Platt (AC/DC, Cheap Trick, Bob Marley), Laurie Anderson and Eddie Van Halen, to name a few. Once you have the H910 in your arsenal, you’ll wonder how you ever lived without it.

MicroPitch

Pitch Shifter by Eventide

Images

Description

Dual Voice Pitch-Shifter + Special FX

MicroPitch is a fine-resolution pitch shifter for subtle tone fattening, plus delays for dramatic slap back effects. MicroPitch is the latest incarnation of an iconic effect originated by Eventide in the 1970s. With each generation, Eventide has added refined, enhanced and built-on it's legendary predecessors.

MicroPitch can take you beyond the run-of-mill stereo spread effects of simple micropitch plugins. It goes above and beyond by allowing you to mix in detuned and delayed versions of your source, creating depth and dimensions not possible before. With its expanded controls you can achieve deep pitch dives, haunting echoes, and pristine chorusing effects.

And, like all H9 series plug-ins, MicroPitch is designed to 'play'. The RIBBON lets you sweep the effect between two completely different settings. Turn your sweetening shift into a delay-throw and back, or change your delays from dark to bright for transitional effects. Use the Ribbon to add a bit of 'life' while you're mixing. For desktop users, plug in a MIDI keyboard and gain control of the Ribbon via the mod wheel for tactile control of this intuitive performance macro.

Play it Live

The plug-in has been enhanced for experimentation and live performance and fine-tuned for your desktop, laptop or iPad. It also promises much more tweak-ability than simple pitch shifting plugins. Tone, Modulation, and Feedback controls provide territory for ear-catching production techniques. Unleash the full range of MicroPitch’s parameters and you can discover rich repeating delays, thick modulations, and tempo-synced special effects.

MicroPitch's Proud Legacy

Eventide originated the micropitch effect by accident in the early 1970s with the introduction of the world's first digital audio effects box, the H910 Harmonizer®. The design of the H910 predates large (and medium) scale integrated circuits, including analogue-to-digital converters, sample rate standards and digital signal processing algorithms. The H910's system clock was not crystal-based but instead used an LC (inductor/capacitor) oscillator circuit which proved to be just a tad unstable. As a result, the pitch ratio would wiggle about. Early owners of the H910, especially studios that could afford two, discovered that setting the pitch ratio on one H910 to 'flicker' between 0.99 and 1.00, while adjusting another to flicker 1.00 and 1.01, resulted in a rich spread stereo effect.

Eventide's second Harmonizer, the H949, introduced in the mid-1970s, 'fixed' the randomness of the H910 by incorporating a rock-steady crystal oscillator. The H949 provided a number of new features made possible by digital audio - reverse effects, de-glitching and "u PC" -thereby formally introducing this new effect into the pro audio lexicon. The H949 was also an early digital audio device, 100% DSP/CPU-free, predominately analogue, and, to achieve small, precise, deviations of pitch it employed using a radio technique called Single Side Band modulation.

With the introduction of the DSP-based Eventide H3000 Harmonizer®, an enhanced version of the MicroPitch effect was developed and the effect became a 'go-to' tool for audio pros and artists worldwide. Today's MicroPitch continues the long tradition of offering ever-expanding capabilities to this fundamental effect.

Pitch Monster

Pitch Shifter by Devious Machines

Images

Description

Extreme Pitch Shifting

Underneath Pitch Monster’s streamlined exterior lurks an absolute beast, capable of 64 voices of sound-warping insanity. Transform a solo vocal into a beautiful choir or robotic melody; turn a mono synth into an orchestra, or your own familiar speaking voice into the rumbling vibrations of Thor, God of Thunder.

With its granular, formant and robo-tastic vocoder engines, Pitch Monster goes far beyond ordinary pitch shifting. Realtime MIDI control, low latency and 8-voice polyphony mean that it can be played like an instrument. Pitch and time spread and randomisation functions turn ordinary sounds into the fantastical, whilst extreme formant shifting can not only alter the gender of a voice but mutate it into an entirely different species!

Just don’t turn the knobs too far. You don’t want to get it over-excited.

Chord Mode

Chord mode lets you select up to eight notes on the on-screen keyboard to form a chord. This mode can be used to harmonize or add higher or lower energy to a sound. With eight chord memory slots, you can save and recall chords for live performance.

Build chords for your track in MIDI learn mode, or copy and paste chords between slots and edit them. You can even copy chords to other instances of the plugin.

MIDI Mode

As well as Normal mode, with its pitch wheel control over the sound’s shift, Pitch Monster can operate using MIDI or Chord mode.

Route MIDI to Pitch Monster, and control the amount of shift applied from your DAW or MIDI keyboard. With MIDI note, glide and pitch bend support you can get musical results quickly – imposing new melodies and harmonies on existing material. In MIDI mode, audio-only plays when a note is pressed.

Formant Mode

Formant mode is tailored for vocals but also works with other clean monophonic audio.

If you think of the voice as a series of pulses from your vocal cords through the resonating chambers of your neck and head then this mode lets you control the speed of the pulses and the size of your neck and head independently.

Unison, Jitter and Spread

Pitch Monster can create 8 voices in unison (or 64 total voices in MIDI or chord mode) and spread them in time, pitch or both. Use these controls to create wide, thick or diffuse textures.

Features

  • Harmonise with up to 8 voices of polyphony
  • Huge 6-octave range
  • Dial-in 8 voices of unison for a 64 voice stack
  • Granular, formant-shifting and vocoder engines
  • Realtime MIDI control
  • Programmable chord memories, with hundreds of presets
  • Dual high + low pass filters for fine tonal control
  • Wide mode for BIG stereo effects
  • Responsive, low-latency DSP engine

ProVocative

Pitch Shifter by Boz Digital Labs

Images

Description

Micro pitch shifting is not a new effect. It is a trick that has been used for decades to thicken and widen vocals, synths and guitars (some people even use it on drums). So why did we make another one? Because we wanted one that was dead easy to use without sacrificing control. ProVocative is so quick and easy to dial in. It's also incredibly light on your CPU without sacrificing quality.

Band Limit

The ability to apply a low and high pass filter to your micro pitched tracks has proven to be incredibly valuable. Take off a bit of the high and low end of your pitch-shifted tracks to get a nice smooth subtle widening.

Mix Section

ProVocative gives you intuitive wet and dry knobs so that you can blend them together however you want. If you prefer mix style blending, you can enable the link button, and the wet and dry knobs act as mix knobs instead.

Features

  • Instant thicker tracks
  • Micro Pitch Shifting
  • Easy to use without sacrificing control

Discord4

Pitch Shifter by Audio Damage

Images

Description

Discord4 is the latest version of our most popular and long-lived product, our Discord stereo pitch shifter. Originally modelled from the H910, Discord has long since become its own effect and a studio standby, and this version includes major additions to further stretch its capabilities.

The pitch-shifter consists of three separate algorithms: a "vintage" mode (the original Discord algorithm, modelled on the Eventide H910 and H949), a "clean" mode for more modern shifting sounds, and a "granular" mode for experimental effects. Each mode has its strengths, depending on the input material, and Discord3 has a broad palette of capabilities as a result. The P1 and P2 algorithms have full control over the buffer (window) size of the shift effect, for fine-tuning the shift to the input signal, or for stranger sound effects. At the extremes of the six-octave shift range, some truly strange aliasing and artifacts can be had with this control.

Discord4 retains its pair of tempo-synced delays and bandpass filters from previous versions and adds a reverb in the feedback loop (for easy access to "shimmer" effects). We have also replaced the modulation sources from the original with our all-new FLFO (Flexible LFO) design. Panorama controls are included to control the stereo width of the wet signal. Finally, soft saturation and limiting have been added or improved throughout the signal path, for an overall improved sound and added vintage-style warmth, and to allow for extreme feedback experiments without fear of overloading your DAW's channel.

Features

  • Pitch Shifting: Discord4 contains a pair of shifters with three separate algorithms (Vintage, Clean, and Granular) for different styles of pitch shifting.
  • Buffer Size Control: The P1 (Vintage) and P2 (Clean) algorithms have a Buffer Size control, from 32 to 2048 samples, for fine-tuning the pitch shifting effect.
  • Delay: Tempo-synced or free-running delays with feedback, cross-feedback, and a sophisticated bandpass filter.
  • Reverb: A simple stereo reverb is added to the feedback path, for "shimmer" effects and further sound exploration.
  • Modulation: Two of our new FLFO (Flexible Low-Frequency Oscillator) with tempo sync and an arbitrary waveform, capable of a nearly infinite number of modulation shapes using only three controls.
  • True Stereo Operation: Discord4 has a true stereo signal path, with entirely independent control over each side, finishing with panorama settings for stereo width.
  • MIDI Note Control: Six octaves of pitch-shifting can be controlled with MIDI note input.
  • All-New GUI: Vector-based resizable user interface.
  • Presets: Cross-platform XML-based preset manager.

Tape Stop: Tape speed simulation

At about the same time as dinosaurs roamed the earth, magnetic tape was the hottest way to store recorded audio. Naturally, cave men discovered that starting and stopping the tape while playing back would lead to interesting effects.

kHs Tape Stop simulates this arcane technology in a simple way, allowing you to get great spindown/speedup sounds quickly with the push of a button. What's next? Harnessing the power of fire?

What's a Snapin?

This plugin is a "snapin". That means you can use it as a regular VST/AU plugin, or you can use it with our snapin hosts Multipass and Snap Heap where you can combine effects in amazing ways.

Description

Analogue Modelled Monophonic Octaver Plugin

Important Note: This is not a physical product and is a music software plugin available for online download only.

Octaver 82 is an analogue simulation of the *BOSS® OC-2™, classic monophonic octaver of the early 80s. The Octaver 82 is used to fatten up the instrument signal by adding two pitched down tones (1 and 2 octaves below the original one).

This plugin, like the original pedal, is monophonic. Chords will play totally scrambled! The technique used to make this pedal is very primordial, yet very innovative for the times. That’s why clean and precise playing is very important to get the best results.

Audiority also played with the circuit ending up with new exciting mods, adding overdrive, envelope filtering and gnarly synth tones!
