Hear your Music Played by World-Class Musicians
Notion gives you by far the best playback of any notation product out of the box, including the unmatched realism of orchestral and Steinway samples recorded by the London Symphony Orchestra at the legendary Abbey Road Studios, guitar samples performed by Neil Zaza, bass samples by Victor Wooten, and drum samples by Roy “Futureman” Wooten. All were painstakingly recorded by top engineers using the best equipment. You get a wide array of dynamics, articulations, and performance techniques. New instruments in version 6 include the Notion Harpsichord along with the Lakeside Pipe Organ and Olympus Micro Choir sounds from our friends at Soundiron. But that’s just the beginning of Notion’s playback features.

Interactive Tools Make Entry Fast and Intuitive
Enter notes with ease using Notion 6’s interactive fretboard, keyboard, and drum pad. It’s the fastest and most convenient way to capture pitches, drum parts, and guitar fingerings. You can even customize the number of guitar strings on the fretboard and the order of entry for each voice for the drum pad. Lyrics can be entered in directly or pasted from any digital source. Want to get your hands on your score? Notion 6’s new Powered by MyScript™ handwriting-recognition feature for Mac, Windows, and iOS lets you write directly into the score, automatically converting your input into digital notation.
Choose chords from a generous chord library and create your own chords. It’s simple to enter the chord name or voicing you want to appear in your score. Choose from standard chord symbols and fretted chord symbols and design custom chord symbols and diagrams. Chords remain on the fretboard for repeated entry, and the software can recall recently used chords. Chord symbols can be attached anywhere over empty measures, meaning lead sheets can be created in no time!

Capture MIDI Parts and Edit them with your Score
Recording MIDI performances and editing MIDI data is easy in Notion. Viewing MIDI and standard notation together makes the experience unique and intuitive. Choose keyboard, guitar, or drum entry, and dial in exactly how Notion will follow your playing. Enter in real-time or in step time, then view your MIDI performance data in Notion’s Sequencer Staff.
Better yet, use the Sequencer Overlay, which allows you to see notation and MIDI performance data on the same staff. Using drag-and-drop, edit each individual note’s velocity, duration, start point, and endpoint. For precise values, double-click each note and customize the note’s numeric values directly. Notion combines the power of MIDI sequencing with the clarity of standard notation in a unique and powerful way.

If you Compose to Picture, Notion 6 is your New Best Friend
Film, video, and TV composers have specialized needs that just start with a synchronized video window. Notion’s video window includes a timecode view, and you can add hit points and select the volume, frame rate, and start time. Transport buttons let you control your score from the video window with fine frame control. Unlike other scoring software, Notion can handle all of the most important modern video file formats, including MP4, WMV (Windows only), H.264, MPEG, MOV, AVI, M4V, and 4GP on Mac and Windows. And Notion is the only major scoring program that handles video natively on 64-bit Windows.
Don’t Just Play your Kusic: Perform it, too
Notion lets you play back a score following metronome marks, but you can also perform your scores live, continuously controlling tempo and velocity. Jump in and out of repeats, vamp measures, fade in and out and navigate live from your computer keyboard or a MIDI controller.
To top it off, Notion 6 comes with the Notion Score Library, a collection of public domain scores in the Notion format.

Powerful Mix Engine by the Folks Who Defined Digital Mixing
PreSonus changed live sound with our StudioLive® digital mixers. We turned the production world on its ears with our Studio One digital audio workstation. While you might not expect advanced mixing capabilities to appear in ordinary notation software, Notion 6 is far from ordinary.
Get truly professional mixes with up to eight stereo buses through the built-in software mixer. Import an audio file to mix with your score or to transcribe from. Process your sounds through eight effects inserts with reverb, guitar-amp simulator, and EQ, compressor, and limiter plug-ins drawn from PreSonus’ Studio One DAW. You can also use your favourite VSTs. Yes, Notion is a professional notation program—but it's clearly much more!
![]()
Serious Studio Integration
While Notion exceeds all other notation software with its mix capabilities, you can take compositions to the next level by connecting Notion to a leading DAW through superior real-time audio/MIDI streaming over ReWire. Or create a music production powerhouse by pairing Notion 6 with Studio One 3, where you can now send audio, note, track, VST and score data directly between the applications. The workflow between Notion 6 and Studio One 3 is unprecedented, as both applications can run side by side on the same computer or on any computers on the same network.

Deliver Professional Scores and Polished Performances
While many Notion layout and notation choices are made automatically so you can focus on creating music, sometimes you need to fine-tune your score’s appearance for easy reading and a professional look. Notion 6 provides new layout handles that let you drag notes, measure lines, time signatures, and more while avoiding accidental respacing. Show and hide parts independently by system and show/hide resting staves for minimal wasted space and maximum readability. Even drag entire systems up and down on the page to adjust the spacing; when you let go, Notion rejustifies the layout.
When it’s time to deliver, Notion has you covered. Print stunning scores and export PDFs. Export standard MIDI files or MusicXML files for collaborating with people using other notation applications. And deliver fully mixed WAV files or MP3s of your entire performance or individual parts. You can even upload directly to SoundCloud® directly from Notion to share your compositions.

MIDI Sampling Is Finally Here
Introducing reMIDI 2, the follow up to reMIDI that allows you to take MIDI sampling to the next level with its new features. reMIDI 2 is a MIDI effect plugin that samples musical notes from MIDI files that allows you to quickly find, chop, key shift and time-stretch samples and map them to a controller.
reMIDI 2 is a plugin instrument capable of outputting MIDI as well as audio. A simple sine wave synth sound is built in for scratch work, so you can quickly find a loop for export as a MIDI file entirely within it.

The idea is to trigger other instruments via reMIDI, and how this is set up depends on the host DAW. For VST hosts (ie, Ableton Live), reMIDI loads as an instrument plugin onto a MIDI track, the output of which is sent to a second track (hosting the target instrument) using the DAW’s routing system.
![]()
For Audio Unit hosts (ie, Logic Pro), the included reMIDI_MFX MIDI effect plugin is loaded up instead. This is identical to the regular reMIDI, but it sits in front of the target instrument on the same track, outputting MIDI directly. It’s certainly the more elegant of the two approaches, although it only captures the raw triggering notes to the track, not the chords output by the plugin.
Each pad is assignable to have its own selected slice from the MIDI file loaded into the pad. You can combine different MIDI files (for melodic/drum MIDI) or record MIDI into pads from reMIDI MIDI input/output.

Now Included with reMIDI 2: SW Jazz Complete MIDI Pack
The complete set contains over 1000 files in 11 volumes. Each volume contains 100 Jazz block chord progressions in MIDI format.
These MIDI files can be dragged into any DAW, but why not just use SongWish’s reMIDI 2, a MIDI sampler VST. reMIDI 2 can load these MIDI files with some convenient features to play and edit them with.
You can animate these block chords with other MIDI utilities such as arpeggiators. Or get your jazz hands-on editing these progressions in your favourite DAW by modifying, adding/removing notes, or even changing the timing.

Phrasebox

Description
A Phrase Arpeggiator for Creating Expressive Sequences from MIDI Chords
Turn simple chord sequences into expressive melody lines and musical phrases. Simply design your phrase in the piano roll, and Phrasebox will playback the pattern using whatever notes you input.
You have complete control over how the phrase is played. Select notes in pitch order, or use the special selectors – such as the loudest/quietest or first-played/last-played. Your phrase will be played back with sample-accurate timing.
![]()
DAW-Like Control
Phrasebox isn't like traditional step sequencers or arpeggiators – you have full control over the timing and length of notes as you would in your DAW. Alongside velocity controls, you can also adjust each note's transposition, and even select a random chance that the note will play.
If your transpositions end up falling between the notes of a scale, you can enable the "Lock To Key" feature to make sure your riffs are always in tune.
![]()
Controller Editing
Alongside note patterns, you can also send MIDI controller data. With up to 8 assignable controllers, you can design everything from piano parts using the hold pedal, to automated synth filters and pitch bends to make the perfect melody line.
![]()
Generation
If you want quick access to an unlimited number of phrases, you can use the built-in generation tools to quickly get inspiration. Simply set how you want the notes and controller data to be generated, and Phrasebox will create a unique phrase pattern with just the click of a button.
![]()
In Detail
Phrasebox is a phrase arpeggiator that gives you control over the playback like never before. With its DAW-like piano roll, you can create expressive, layered melodies that aren't limited in timing and length compared to traditional step arpeggiators.
The notes of the piano roll correspond to the pitch order of notes, with "special" notes (like the loudest or quietest notes played), which let you control exactly which notes you want to play. It also features a lock to key option so your transposed notes are never out of key, and the included controller window lets you also send MIDI CC data out to your instruments.
Phrasebox also features generation options, so you can generate unlimited unique phrases at the click of a button.

How it Works
Detect
Scaler 2 can listen to incoming MIDI or audio data and detect the key your music is in. After this, it will suggest chords and chord progressions that will fit with your song. Scaler 2 can send MIDI to a virtual instrument in your DAW, and it has 45 onboard instruments to play with as well.
Chord Sets
Scaler 2 comes with over 400 song and genre-based chord sets and over 200 artist chord sets to inspire new progressions and melodies; plus, choose from hundreds of scales and modes to get your creative juices flowing. Simply drag the chords you want into the sequencer to build a pattern that’s unique to you.
Explore
Explore alternative chords that’ll fit with your progression, with loads of suggestions, voicings, chord extensions and variations on particular chords to help you choose the perfect feeling with every step of your song.
MIDI Capture
New Audio Detection Technology means you can detect and analyse chords and scales from existing audio sources. With MIDI Capture, you can record Scaler 2’s output – whether you’re clicking keys or chords, or playing progressions – in order to drag the resulting MIDI to outside the plugin.
Create
Suggest mode gives you chords compatible with your chord progression. Lock keys to your chords to create complex melodies by intuitively moving around on your MIDI controller. Humanize Scaler 2’s performance by introducing variations to velocity and/or timing. Voice Grouping profiles lets you automatically invert notes to restrict playback within certain octaves or by using open voicing.
Edit
Edit Mode lets you dial in Duration, Octave, Inversion and more parameters per chord, and there are new ways to edit chords when right-clicking. DAW Sync links your chord patterns to your DAW’s playback, making it easy to audition new progressions or alter existing chord patterns alongside your DAW project. Pad View makes it easy to construct entire arrangements, moving chords and whole progressions on a higher level.
Modulation
Scaler 2 makes Modulation Suggestions for movement between your current key and a destination. The majority of suggestions have been sourced from professional musicians, and some are generated algorithmically.
Performance
With Performances, Phrases, Sequences, Basslines, Melodies and Rhythms created by real pianists and musicians, Scaler 2 isn’t just about creating chords and arpeggios – it can lay down melodies as well. Over 500 Expressions let you experiment with riffs and melodies, which can be locked to notes of your scale or a chord.
What's new in version 2.5.0?

New Generation Composition Tool
Sometimes inspiration comes at you thick and fast... but sometimes not. Instacomposer is your saviour when creativity runs dry, or when you just need your talent topped up. This MIDI generation plugin can conjure melody, rhythm, bass, pads and chords at the click of a button - all using artificial intelligence to create genuinely useful and musical riffs. This is the next step in automatic composition, using a complex algorithm to determine notes, harmonies and chords based on your personal preferences. With this much composing power at your fingertips, you’ll never be stuck in a musical rut again.
Artificial Intelligence
The backbone of Instacomposer is a behind-the-scenes decision-making matrix that creates notes based on both mathematics and musical knowledge. Plus, the artificial intelligence factors in a whole host of parameters that you can set in the bottom panel, from repetition probability to the complexity of chord shapes. Harmonic variations, strumming techniques and note density are just some of the myriad of options that can be adjusted, feeding the algorithm your own personal set of preferences.
Total Flexibility
Instacomposer is as unique as you are, taking into account your chosen scale, time signature and riff length. Choose to create new sequences for one, some or all of the 5 tracks, and in any combination of melody, rhythm, bass, pad and chord.
MIDI Editor
The onboard MIDI editor can be used to tweak the output of Instacomposer within the interface itself. This means that you can manipulate the music before it leaves the plugin, adding your own creativity and personal style on top of what the plugin has offered you. Move, copy and delete notes within a familiar piano-roll interface, even changing the velocity.
MIDI Export
Drag the MIDI tracks straight out of Instacomposer and into your DAW for ultimate ease of use. Alternatively, set up multi-channel instruments and route the MIDI from Instacomposer into your favourite VSTi’s. In this way, you can preview all 5 tracks simultaneously, without ever leaving the Instacomposer environment.
Presets
Instacomposer includes a huge number of factory presets; useful musical motifs to get you up and running quickly which can eventually become the basis for whole tracks.

Inspirational Chord Progressions to Kickstart Your Music
When you first sit down at a blank project sometimes you need a fresh hit of motivation and creativity. That’s why CHORDS is here for you. Originally designed for EDM productions, but useful for a variety of genres, this clever workstation will conjure chords of all shapes and sizes with just a couple of clicks. Try out new ideas for your tracks within the intuitive interface and let this plugin take the strain, from suggesting single 4-note chords to producing entire 8-chord riffs.
![]()
CHORDS must be assigned to a MIDI track or instrument track on your DAW via MIDI In. For the required routing setup, follow instructions in the manual of your DAW. The innovative software will generate looped options for up to 8 chords with full control over chord shape, inversions, velocity and more. Then just drag the MIDI straight from the plugin to your project, letting your creativity flow freely, guided by the suggestions from CHORDS.
Global or Granular
Use the global controls to adjust inversions, length, speed and root key of the entire playback, making on-the-fly adjustments to your entire riff a simple process. To get into the detail, click a segment for more granular control over chord shapes (including major/minor variations), individual inversions and velocity.
Simple Segments
With up to 8 segments, each containing a different chord type, you can choose to trigger between one and four notes per chord. The playback of these segments syncs to the host BPM of your DAW, always remaining locked in time. You can add and subtract segments with ease and change a range of parameters, independently for each segment.
Essential Parameters
Each segment can be programmed with inversions from -6 to +6, transforming chord shapes and placing the root note inside of the chord itself. Experiment by pushing the lowest notes up an octave, or highest notes down an octave, turning your chords inside out.
Just The Tonic
With your chords loaded and a segment chosen, use the 18 buttons in the centre of the interface to choose Tonic, Subdominant or Dominant chord shapes. From simple triads, right through to more complex shapes, let CHORDS find the right notes for any related chord. Fancy a G7sus4 or a Bm7b5? Just let this plugin find the correct notes and work out the difficult stuff for you.
Export MIDI
To get the chord progressions into your own projects, simply drag and drop from the plugin to your DAW. Then you can edit to your heart’s content, chopping up the MIDI, transposing and twisting the CHORDS suggestions to suit your own style of music.
Powerful Presets
CHORDS includes a huge number of factory preset progressions, all labelled in detail. These are useful musical motifs to get you up and running quickly which can eventually become the basis for whole tracks.

Description
![]()
A MIDI Processing Plugin that helps you play chords and chord progressions faster and easier.
The foundation of a great song is based on its harmonic movements and chord changes which often is called chord progression. A change in chord progression can have a drastic effect on the mood or direction of a song. Even those with a background in music theory can experience repetition and stagnation. Using richer chords and new chord progressions can take the song to a new level and make it sound unique and professional.
Whether or not you are an experienced musician or just a beginner, with a vast chord bank and amazing playability, InstaChord has something to offer to you.
- If you're a songwriter or a producer It will help you speed up the workflow and song creation process. Find the best progression and use a single midi pattern to play all of them.
- If you're a player it allows you to play some of the hardest chords, in any musical key and combination of notes and different voicings, using just a few keys on your controller. Or jam and practice over them without spending much time creating a jam track.
- If you're a student or a teacher you can use the plugin to learn and study the chords and use it as a reference and hear them in action.

The foundation of a great song is based on its harmonic movements and chord changes which often is called chord progression. InstaScale
Music Theory Tools by W.A. Production

Description
![]()
W. A. Production is rolling out another innovative tool to assist you in your song creation adventures. Play your instruments using the brilliant idea of relative notes, rather than the old static approach. Explore the world of scales and expand your creativity in a way that you never have before.
What is it?
InstaScale is a newly invented, scale oriented instrument with only 16 keys to play with. But wait, is that enough? Turns out it's more than enough. Unlike the standard keyboard instruments where each key can only play a single note, InstaScale has a set of smart keys, each one capable of playing different notes. The new note will be based on the given scale, last note's position and the action of the key assigned to it.
InstaScale is available as a MIDI processor plugin that can be used in any DAW that supports VST instrument plugins (with MIDI routing) or AU MIDI effect plugins, given you the freedom to play any instrument you choose without any limitations regarding the sound and hardware.

What can I use it for?
-
Learning. With all the scales included in the plugin and various information displayed on the interface, Instascale can be a valuable source to study and learn different scales and modes very quickly.
-
Ear Training. Get familiar with the scales in different keys and modes without having to know how to play them. Train your ear to recognize intervals and distances quickly. Using the home feature you can stay on a certain note and see what feelings it creates compared to the other notes of that scale.
-
Serious playing. Instascale might seem like a strange and unfamiliar instrument at first but don't be fooled, like any other instrument with enough practice and dedication you can play a kind of mind blowing music that you could have never done with any other instrument out there.
-
Experimenting and getting inspired. Considering that you can never hit a wrong note with Instascale, just play random keys and get inspired by the unpredictable but musically pleasant results. Happy accidents always happen. You don't even have to use your MIDI keyboard, you can use your drum pad/kit, map the pads to the correct keys and start playing. You'd be surprised how cool it feels and sounds.
-
Breaking the rules. The foundation of the plugin is based on doing things differently, knowing the rules first and then breaking them. So let it inspire you to go even further and find new ways to create music without limiting your mind to the concept of black and white keys and minor and major scales. The plugin guards the rules but lets you change them, bend them or break them. It lets you change the scale, root and home notes on the fly, do crazy runs, it even allows you to create your own experimental scales.
We are sure you will find Instascale fun to use whether it be as an educational tool to learn scales or expand your current knowledge, as an outlet for creativity, as a quick reference, or to be applied to your live set. Just like the creation of music, the possibilities within Instascale are endless and at your fingertips.

How does it work?
InstaScale works as a VST instrument and AU MIDI effect plugin. It receives midi data from the controller and swaps it with the processed one. In VST mode the output can be routed to any other instrument in the host application using the available routing functions in that host. The AU version works as a midi effect only in hosts like Logic Pro x that supports the type. There are 16 playing keys that will be used to play the target instrument. What these keys do and where they're placed on the controller can be customized. They can have static offset values like 'Home' or a relative ones like '+2' or '-3'. Using this offset value and the previous note, the plug-in calculate the actual note the key plays. you can read more about the playing keys in the manual. In addition to playing keys there are some control keys that can be used to change and control some of the parameters of the plugin like scale and octave directly from the MIDI controller.
