This pack contains a collection of traditional vocal recordings and artistic FX to form a library of naturally produced, carefully processed, and meticulously crafted sounds that capture the unique nature of this revived art form.

Medieval Bukhara Shashmaqam formed over centuries of evolved musical sounds, deeply influenced by the maqamat tradition from Iran, Kashgar, Afghanistan, Northern India, and other Islamic countries. Present-day Shashmaqam combines three traditions: Tajik, Turkic-Uzbek, and Bukharan-Jewish, with Tajikistan being the heart of its influence.

Historically, scattered sources showcase Maqams (modes) to have been poetic court performances and celebratory recitals across these regions. These poem lyrics are Sufi-inspired, leaning towards divine love. Typically, a traditional scale has six (Shash) modes (Maqams) that make up a song.

Shashmaqam dry vocals have been recorded in the EarthMoments studios. Our in-house team of sound designers has carefully crafted the FX and textures library to retain their authentic nature while perfectly fitting modern productions.

Hachion Sound - Shamisen

Asia by Hachion Sound

Description

"HACHION" is a project that aims to blend traditional Japanese musical instruments such as the koto, shamisen, shinobue, shakuhachi, and taiko with contemporary sounds of today.

The shamisen or samisen (meaning "three strings”), is a plucked three-stringed instrument. Its construction follows a model similar to that of a guitar or a banjo, with a neck and strings stretched across a resonating body. It is is played with a plectrum, called a bachi.

The sound of a shamisen is similar in some respects to that of the American banjo. As in the clawhammer style of American banjo playing, the bachi is often used to strike both string and skin, creating a highly percussive sound.

The lowest string is purposefully laid lower at the nut of the instrument, so that it buzzes, creating a characteristic timbre known as sawari (somewhat reminiscent of the "buzzing" of a sitar, which is called jivan).

The construction of the shamisen varies in shape, depending on the genre in which it is used. This product uses the most traditional and common type called “Tsugaru-Shamisen”

Asia by Discovery Sound

Description

A classy collection of Tibetan samples with a specially included movie. The faithful performances of sacred instruments & voices.

In the Tibet Autonomous Region under the occupation of China, extreme human rights violations have continued, and their traditional Buddhist music is also in peril to disappear. Soon after his arrival in India in 1959, Dalai Lama re-organized the Tibetan Government-in-Exile, and their tradition and culture are still maintained by many Tibetan exiles settled in the town.

For recording the genuine Tibetan samples on this library, Discovery visited the refugee settlement under the Tibetan Government-in-Exile located in Dharamsala, Northern India.

I Love Tibet is a sample pack with 644 MB of 16bit/44.1kHz recordings of loops, one-shots, multi samples made using varied cross-section of instruments - indispensable sacred percussion, wind instruments and sutras to the Tibetan Buddhist music - together with some more traditional percussion, string and wind instruments and Tibetan Opera which are familiar to Tibet people. Users will enjoy the instrumental performances included as a special movie as well as the live performance by monks in a temple on the disc.

Tibetan Buddhism stands for Tibetan culture. For the memorial service held in temples, many instruments are used for making God and Buddha pleased with sounds. The instruments to play the Buddhist music are roughly divided into percussion and wind instruments. The percussion is consisted of drums such as "Nga" or "Damaru" and metal percussion like cymbals called "Book Chen" to keep rhythms. The wind instruments include Tibetan flute called "Gyaling", a huge and loud Tibetan horn called "Dhunchecn", a Conch horn called "Dhung", etc. Those sacred instruments are thoroughly represented here, and also the essential emotional voices to admire God & Buddha called "Mantra" and "Chant" in multi-tones recited by a lot of monks are also provided. For multi-sampling files, stringed instruments called "Drayen" and "Yanzin" are available in Kontakt format and Tibetan percussion including cymbals or bells are presented in BATTERY format. More over, the additional special movie (4 min 40 sec.) presents a Tibetan folk song, folk dances, native costumes, and Tibetan people with friendly smiles.

Koto

Asia by Discovery Sound

Description

Its 13 strings bring elegant and spiritual sounds that mimic stillness and motion as does the 4 seasons of Japan. You will feel as if it is you who is playing these warm, dynamic tones.

An ancient Japanese musical instrument comes into the spotlight again. The Koto is not only used in traditional music, but also modern day composers have also used the instrument in collaboration with orchestras since the early 1900’s. Koto captures the pure sound of Japan and will flood your ears with various sounds.

Koto was used in old Japanese court music to sooth the body. It has been said that this instrument could purify you mind, body, and soul. There is an opening in the bottom of the Koto which releases the sound that seems to penetrate your body.

The DVD-ROM was recorded with the player facing the Koto using the correct posture and emotional display to achieve the high quality 44.1 kHz/16bit sound. You can hear many basic play techniques such as types of chalking, finger slides, pizzicato, and arpeggios all inside 1023 files.

The Koto sound is as quite as the moon, cherry blossoms, and the surface of water. It has a lightness of flying butterflies and the sputtering of fish, but has the strength of thunder. Its 13 strings bring elegant and spiritual sounds that mimic stillness and motion as does the 4 seasons of Japan. You will feel as if it is you who is playing these warm, dynamic tones.

The overflowing rich sounds of the Koto were by no means for the enjoyment of music. During a time of ruins and decay of ancient times it may have been known as an intellectual sound source. But with the Koto’s inspirational sounds from its creator resonating with mankind will bring harmony into the new age.
